Student answer (Band 6.0)

Despite the significant experience, it is becoming very challenging for those people who aged 50 and above to get an employment, This essay will examine the reasons behind this problem and also explain the suitable measures to cope with this concern.

One of the major causes behind this problem is that people over the age of 50 may not have much ability of work in a physically challenging environment. According to some debates and research elderly people may have low stamina and energy to tackle the difficult workforce environment. The main reason is that sometimes they are facing serious illness like amnesia and are not able to work properly in their jobs. Another cause is that they may not fimiliar with latest and advance technologies, which makes employees to work quickly and easily. Despite their experiences, however, they might not have enough knowledge and ability to work on these advancements.

There are several measures that can be taken to adress this issue. Firstly, government should make contribution in developing various employment opportunites for elderly people, which is not only less time consuming but only less phycially challenging. This approach help them to get better job prospects and it can also benefit business and companies to utilize old people experience and knowledge. Furthermore, goverment and authorities should introduce latest and advance technological courses for those people, which help them to learn further about new advancements. As a result, they may able to work and get a long- term career propects despite their age.

In conclusion, although it is challenging for old aged people to get a job due to their health and mental well-being and also less knowlege about new technologies, this should be overcome by introducing new working space and courses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the question: it identifies health and physical demands, as well as limited familiarity with technology, and proposes employment opportunities and training as solutions. The position is clear, and the conclusion returns to the main causes and measures. However, some ideas are more fully addressed than others. For example, the claim that older people may face illnesses such as amnesia is not explained or supported, and the discussion of how governments could create suitable jobs remains general. Develop each point with a specific example or explanation—for instance, identify less physically demanding roles or describe how retraining could help an older worker qualify for a particular job. This would make the relevant ideas clearer and more fully supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from causes to measures is easy to follow, and signposts such as “One of the major causes,” “Firstly,” and “Furthermore” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some stronger control through clear paragraphing. However, connections can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear: “This approach” refers to the proposed employment opportunities, but the benefits that follow are not developed in a precise sequence. The phrase “not only … but only” also disrupts the relationship between ideas. Use linking expressions more selectively and make each sentence’s connection to the previous point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its main points, including “stamina,” “employment opportunities,” “technological courses,” and “career prospects.” It also attempts more formal phrasing, such as “measures to cope with this concern.” However, the range is limited in places, and noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision: “fimiliar,” “adress,” “phycially,” and “knowlege” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “ability of work” and “developing various employment opportunities for elderly people.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “physical capacity,” “digital skills,” and “age-inclusive roles” would help express the argument more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

There is an attempt to use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “people over the age of 50 may not have much ability…” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and agreement. For example, “those people who aged 50 and above” needs a finite verb construction such as “those who are aged 50 and above,” while “This approach help them” requires subject–verb agreement. The opening also joins two sentences with a comma after “employment,” and “they may able to work” is missing “be.” Review these patterns and punctuate sentence boundaries carefully; greater accuracy would make the varied structures clearer.
