Student answer (Band 5.5)

In majority of the nations, it can be very difficult for individuals over the age of 50 to get better jobs, despite their experience.

In my opinion, this notion is true to some extent as it is diificult for elderly people to seek a quality job because of the age factor as individuals at this phase of life are unable to process in the same way the young people can do. Additionally, not denying about their massive experience throughout their life can play a significant role in the progress of a company but now a days the companies wants to hire fresh minds as they have advance skills and can cope to manage things far better than the old age people. Moreover, the young generation can fulfil the task in lesser time as compared to the old age generation.

On the one hand, keeping in mind the amount of skills the young people can offer in a specific time is recommendable. Moreover, the elderly people cannot provide with such quick ideas and skills comparatively. We should be mindful that the over age people have worked all their lives and they are near their retirement age which makes it obvious that retirement is for the betterment of people and have a specified reason. In addition, keeping in mind the situation about the aged people as some have to continue working for their living.

On the other hand, the government should be mindful of the people at this age and make initiatives to help them in their later life. For example, the governments must offer incentive, rewards and some specific amount of money for its citizens which can help them to have a better living. However, the old age people can still be in intact with different companies to share their experiences and can give them different ideas to prevent them from any loss and the companies can hire them to work for a few days in a week. Whereas, it can be beneficial for them in terms of earning and as well as spending their time in a more productive way. At the same time, their health will not be hindrance in the way, not allowing them to work or spend alot of time working which can detoriate their health.

In the concluding statement it is concluded that, there must be some measures taken by the government to help these people to earn and live a better life. Additionally, they can be helpful for the companies and in training of the new recruitments from their experience. In this way both the sides can be managed for the smooth living.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both causes and possible measures, and your position is broadly that age can disadvantage older applicants while government and employers should support them. The discussion of employers preferring younger workers with newer skills is relevant, as is your proposal that experienced older people work part-time and advise or train companies. However, the causes are not consistently explained: claims that older people cannot process information as well or produce ideas quickly are asserted rather than supported, and the retirement point does not clearly explain why people over 50 struggle to obtain good jobs. The government-payment proposal is also general and not directly linked to employment. Develop each cause with a clear explanation and example, and make the solutions respond directly to those causes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the shift from reasons to possible support gives it a recognisable overall structure. However, progression within the body is uneven. The paragraph beginning “On the one hand” repeats the preference for younger workers and then moves to retirement and financial need without clearly connecting these points. “On the other hand” introduces several measures, but the links between government assistance, part-time work and health are not always explicit. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “In addition,” and “At the same time” are used frequently, sometimes where a clearer explanation of the relationship would help more. Use topic sentences to signal each paragraph’s main point and organise supporting details in a more deliberate sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “experience,” “retirement age,” “incentive,” and “training,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited by repeated references to “old age people” and “young people,” while several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, such as “in intact with different companies,” “the companies wants,” and “smooth living.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “diificult,” “advance skills,” and “detoriate,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise employment-related language and check common collocations and spelling. This would make your ideas clearer and more natural without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because,” “as,” and “which,” but complex structures are often not controlled accurately. For example, “the companies wants to hire” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the retirement age which makes it obvious that retirement is for the betterment of people and have a specified reason” has unclear clause structure and agreement. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “In majority of the nations” and “At the same time, their health will not be hindrance.” These errors recur and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, articles and punctuation.
