Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You make a relevant attempt to discuss the difficulty older workers face, and you suggest that experienced employees can mentor younger colleagues. However, the task asks for both causes and measures, and these are not clearly or fully addressed. The opening mentions companies preferring younger applicants, but does not explain why, while the proposed measures are vague: “create a special section between company” is difficult to understand, and recommending self-employment is not developed as a solution. Your position, “it depends on a job requirements,” is also not clearly connected to the discussion. The response is 103 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop and support the main ideas. Explain several causes and give practical, specific measures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to connect ideas using “However,” “Moreover,” and “Although,” and the response moves from hiring preferences to the potential value of experienced workers. However, the ideas are not arranged into a clear overall progression. The opening combines several points in one long sentence, and the second part shifts from mentoring to a company section and then to self-employment without explaining how these points relate. There is no clear separation of causes and solutions, and some linking words do not express the intended relationship. For example, “Although” introduces a point that does not form a complete contrast. Use separate paragraphs for causes and measures, and make each paragraph develop one central idea in a logical order.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “hiring process,” “experience,” “stress management,” and “pressure handling.” These choices show an attempt to discuss workplace issues rather than relying entirely on very basic language. However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret. “A strong criteria” and “a special section between company” do not convey clear meanings, while “better job opportunities” is not used naturally in its sentence. Spelling errors such as “crieteria,” “unecessery,” and “colleges” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of phrases for causes and solutions, such as age discrimination, recruitment practices, retraining, and flexible working, and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine ideas in longer sentences, including the sentence beginning “However it rare to heard,” and you use connectors to show relationships. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors in basic sentence formation frequently make the meaning unclear. Examples include “Age factors that has,” “it rare to heard,” and “he can help to their younger colleges,” which contain problems with agreement, verb forms, and sentence structure. Several sentences also run together without appropriate punctuation, particularly the opening and the final section. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, infinitives and verb forms, and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
