Student answer (Band 5.0)
In many countries, people above the age of 50 struggle to find a good job even though they have gained more experience over all those years. This problem is caused due to various reasons, but these problems do have solutions.
One of the major reason is the age itself with which comes problems, in this age people cannot work longer shifts or do odd jobs even if they do there are high chances they might not work upto the expectations of their employer. Moreover the younger generation might not have experience but one thing's for sure that they can work hard to earn a living and satisfy their employer with their work. Secondly there is a lot of competition in the present world and with the advancement in technology at work places the chances of jobs for old people have become very less as they are not familiar with tech as much as compared to the new generation.
When there is a problem there are high possibilities of having a solution for them, people over the age of 50
also need to earn a living as many of them cannot depend on their children, the government of these countries should give allowances to older people as they need money in their daily lives as well for food, healthcare and many other reasons if this is not possible than the government could atleast announce jobs suitable for the older people which they can do easily and can earn a handsome amount of money to pay their bills as well as become independent.
In this age most people have health issues which does not allow them to work in harsh conditions or work longer shifts so they must have jobs suitable for their health and according to their nature which is their right.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both causes and possible measures, and the response stays focused on the difficulty older people face in finding work. The causes you identify—health and stamina, competition from younger applicants, and unfamiliarity with workplace technology—are relevant. You also suggest government allowances and jobs suited to older people’s health. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the claim that younger workers are more able to satisfy employers is broad and not supported with an example, while the proposed allowances do not directly solve the employment problem. Explain how employers or governments could help older applicants update their skills or adapt working conditions, and support each main idea with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic overall structure: it introduces the issue, presents causes, and then discusses possible support. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Secondly,” and “When there is a problem” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is not always clear. The final paragraph returns to health issues already mentioned in the causes section, rather than developing a distinct measure, and the long solutions paragraph combines allowances, suitable jobs, and independence without clear separation. Some links are also mechanical or unclear. Use one paragraph for causes and another for solutions, with each paragraph organised around a clear main point and supporting explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “advancement in technology,” “allowances,” and “healthcare.” The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “problems of the age,” “work up to the expectations,” and “jobs for old people.” Repetition of “people,” “work,” and “jobs” also makes the writing less varied. Choose more precise, respectful terms and use collocations that fit employment contexts. For example, refer to “older workers” and “meet employers’ expectations,” and describe roles as “age-appropriate” or “adapted to employees’ needs.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses to explain causes and consequences, for example, “with the advancement in technology at work places the chances of jobs for old people have become very less.” However, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and punctuation errors make several ideas run together. There are also recurring agreement and sentence-formation problems: “One of the major reason” should be plural, and “if this is not possible than” has an incorrect construction. The opening also joins sentences without a space after the full stop. Practise separating long ideas into complete sentences, checking subject–verb agreement, and using commas and full stops to make relationships between clauses clear.
