Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, with the rapid development of society, finding employment at the age of fifety has become one of the most widely discussed issues around the world. This issue has created several challenges, such as fiancial secuirity and procastination, which can negatively affect individuals and society. This essay will discuss the major causes associated with this issue and suggest some effective solutions to overcome these challenges.

To begin with, one significant cause of this issue is employer prefer young workers. This is because young employees ha smuch more stamina to work longer hours. As a result, Older employees are seen as less adaptable. For example, recruiters are now looking for the employees who posses both practical experiences and interpersonal skills.employment opportunities are limted and job seekers remain competitive in the labour market. Another major cause is lack of digital skills.in an evolving era of an artificial intelligence having computer literacy, and basics corporate tools understanding is must. Consequently, younger employees are considered fast learner and have proximity learning style.while majority of older employees who are not mentally and physically active are dealing with alot of issues such as poor memory, cognitive decline, less critical thinking and mood swings.furthermore older employees demand much higher salaries according to thier experiences and employeers are also had a fear of increased medical expenses.

However, several effective measures can be taken to address this problem. One practical solution is that governments and employers shouldprovide free digital skills training. This can be achieved by encouriging old people of societies who have keen interest on learning new skills. As a result, this will increase the employment ratio. Another important solution is to set flexibile hours for older employees. In conclusion, although employment for aged workers remains a serious issue because of Older employees are seen as less adaptable andExperienced workers often expect higher wages, I believe that Tax incentives for companies hiring older workers and Flexible working hoursare the most effective solutions to overcome this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question by identifying causes, including employers’ preference for younger staff and older applicants’ limited digital skills, and proposing training and flexible hours. Your conclusion also introduces tax incentives. These are relevant ideas, but some are not developed or connected clearly to the problem: for instance, the claims about memory, mood swings and medical expenses are broad and unsupported, and the proposed training is not explained in enough detail to show how it would help people secure good jobs. The measures are also unevenly covered, as tax incentives appear only in the conclusion. To strengthen the response, explain each cause with a specific example and develop each solution in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on solutions and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “As a result” and “However” help signal the main stages. However, progression within the causes paragraph is difficult to follow because several points are crowded together, and some transitions do not show the relationship between ideas clearly. For example, the discussion moves from stamina and adaptability to recruiters’ requirements, then digital skills and health-related claims without clear separation. Punctuation and spacing also make some sentences run together. Use one main idea per paragraph or clearly separated section, and connect examples directly to the point they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to employment, including “digital skills,” “labour market,” “interpersonal skills” and “tax incentives.” This gives you a useful range for discussing the topic. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural word combinations are noticeable, such as “fifety,” “fiancial secuirity,” “procastination,” “possess both practical experiences,” and “proximity learning style.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “employment ratio” does not clearly describe the intended outcome, and “old people of societies” is unnatural. These choices sometimes make the reader pause, even though the main meaning is generally recoverable. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations in context, especially for describing workers, training and employment outcomes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because,” “as a result” and “although.” The overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “one significant cause … is employer prefer,” “young employees ha smuch more stamina,” and “employeers are also had a fear.” Several sentences are joined without appropriate punctuation, particularly in the causes paragraph, and the conclusion contains an unclear structure beginning “although employment … because of.” Work on subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries. Aim to make each sentence complete and check that clauses are joined correctly.
