Student answer (Band 6.5)

In various parts of the world, the growing issue of elderly people facing hardships to secure a good paying job, despite their valuable experiences has made it essential to identify its issues and implement effective solutions. In my opinion, many factors can contribute to this, such as the inability of older people to evelove in this tech oriented world and also the office cultures measuring knowledge of AI over deliverables. However, these issues can be tackled through various governent funded training programs and some changes in company regulations to ensure the elderly are given a fair chance.

The main factor for elderly individuals struggling to find a good job despite their years of valuable experience can be one's inability to cope up with the youngsters in this tech oriented world. For instance, a company would hire an young employee with a good grip on different artificial intelligence tools rather than someone with no knowledge of AI. Moreover, with years spent in the corporate world, workers tend to become rigid in their schedules and gain a sense of superiority on others and ignore the basic need to grow with this fast moving world, which eventually leads them to face hardships while finding new jobs.

However, these issues can be tackled gradually to make more career options available for senior workers. Firstly, government bodies should initiate different tech-oriented learning programs for the older generations, in order to teach them new skills and evolving methods of the new world so they can compete with youngsters in this fast moving world. Furthermore, a more flexible culture can be encouraged in an organization where deliverables are measured without policing individuals ability to work with AI.

In conclusion, it can be challenging for elderly applicants to secure employement due to their lack of knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence and lack of their flexible nature. Nevertheless, these issues can be tackled through various government funded learning programs and regulations to make office culture measure deliverables over their knowledge of AI. These changes can impact a nation's ability to increase it's workforce and eventually positively impact the economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the question and maintain a clear position: older workers may struggle because of changing technology and workplace expectations, while training and fairer company practices could help. The examples involving AI make the cause relevant, and your proposed government training programmes respond directly to it. This meets the task well, but the causes and solutions are not equally developed. The claim that experienced workers become “rigid” and feel “superiority” is broad and risks placing responsibility on older applicants without explaining how common this is. The company-regulation proposal also needs a clearer account of what rules or practices would change. More specific explanation or a brief example for these points would make the response more fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on solutions, and a conclusion. The progression from the technology-related cause to training and workplace changes is easy to follow, and signposts such as “For instance,” “Firstly,” and “Furthermore” help guide the reader. This is a coherent and logically organised response. At times, however, the links between ideas are somewhat mechanical, and the conclusion repeats much of the introduction and body rather than drawing the argument together. The reference to “these issues” is understandable, but the relationship between workers’ inflexibility and the proposed company changes could be made more explicit. Use a little more varied referencing and develop transitions between cause and remedy.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “valuable experience,” “artificial intelligence tools,” “career options,” and “deliverables,” which helps communicate the main points. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “implement effective solutions.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “elderly people” is not the most suitable term for workers over 50, “good paying job” is less natural than “well-paid job,” and “cope up with” is not idiomatic. Spelling errors such as “evelove,” “goverent,” and “employement” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and proofread spelling; this would make your vocabulary more controlled and flexible.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “a company would hire an young employee … rather than someone with no knowledge of AI” and a purpose clause beginning “in order to teach them.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the range is sufficient to express causes and proposed measures. Some grammatical errors persist, however. Examples include “an young employee” (article choice), “workers tend to become rigid … and gain … and ignore” (unclear parallel structure), and “individuals ability” (missing possessive apostrophe). In the conclusion, “a nation's ability to increase it's workforce” also confuses the possessive “its” with “it’s.” Review articles, possessives, and parallel constructions, then check punctuation and sentence structure during proofreading.
