Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies one relevant cause: employers may worry that older workers have less energy or health problems. The example beginning “In the Korea” also appears intended to illustrate the issue, but it is unfinished and provides no supporting detail. The task asks for both causes and measures, yet no solutions are offered, and the discussion of the cause is only briefly stated rather than explained or supported. The response also falls substantially short of the required length, leaving the main parts of the question unanswered. To improve, explain more than one cause, develop each with a specific example, and propose practical measures such as retraining or age-discrimination protections.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening sentence introduces the topic, followed by a paragraph that begins with “First and foremost” and gives a reason. This provides a simple starting progression, but the response stops mid-sentence at “In the Korea it is very difficult for people,” so the example and overall argument are not completed. The linking phrase is also not followed by a developed sequence of points, and there is no separate discussion of solutions or concluding paragraph. Use clear paragraphs for causes and measures, connect each explanation to its example, and finish with a brief conclusion so the reader can follow a complete line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the central topic, with relevant terms such as “experience,” “energy,” “health problems,” and “work.” However, the range is narrow and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated use of “people” and “very difficult.” Some phrases are awkward, such as “get job at their 50” and “pain on their body,” which make the writing less natural. The unfinished reference to Korea also prevents the writer from showing a broader range of language for examples or solutions. Build a topic vocabulary around employment, age discrimination, skills, and workplace support, and practise using natural collocations in complete sentences.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with one attempt to add detail through “despite having experience.” Meaning is generally understandable, but control is uneven. Examples include “over age of 50,” “get job,” and “most of people,” where articles or determiners are missing; “can not work correctly and timely” also has a faulty construction. Capitalisation is inconsistent in “It” and “In,” and the final sentence is incomplete. To improve, practise accurate article use and sentence boundaries, then add controlled complex forms—for example, a complete sentence explaining how health concerns may affect particular kinds of work.
