Student answer (Band 5.0)

In many countries, there are some common arguments that it can not be easy to get good jobs for people over the age of 50 years. From my daily experience and observation, I believe that every company prefer young man isntead of old person(aged over 50) because the younger person can do any work at any time and people over the age of 50 can do just easy work so that is why every organization focus on younger than older.

First of all, people over the age are much resposible and skilled as well, they have their experience of work and they think about their own responsibilties. In another words, older people always want a specific range salaries because they want to full fill their expenses related to their homes. suppose a person over the age of 50 years who is responsible for their families and home expenditures. Therefore, he demands a goog salary for his duties in case of rents, bills and also for diets as well. These are the common reason for many companies and they do not want get people over the age of 50 years due to their high salaries.

Second of all, younger person is very beneficial for compannies because they can do heavy work and they have no desire according to salaries, they just want experience according to the field and they can adjust themselves in low salaries. For instance, some time compannies makes some restrictions on the aged segement on the application form because they want just active persons instead of lazy and old age person.

In conlusion, compannies wants people in low salaries with heavy responsibility. Some younger person wants some experience of that field so they adjust their self according to the job rules.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify a plausible cause: employers may prefer younger applicants because they expect them to accept lower pay and undertake physically demanding work. However, the response only partly answers the question. The prompt asks for causes and measures, but you give no clear measures to improve older workers’ access to good jobs. Your discussion of salary expectations is relevant, yet the claim that people over 50 can do “just easy work” is a broad generalisation and is not supported with evidence. The conclusion repeats the preference for lower-paid younger workers rather than summarising a solution or a developed position. To strengthen the response, address both parts explicitly and explain practical measures, such as age-discrimination rules, retraining, or flexible work arrangements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Second of all,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression is limited: both body paragraphs mainly repeat the idea that companies prefer younger, cheaper workers, and there is no paragraph developing solutions. Some links are mechanical or unclear, as in “In another words” and the long sentence beginning “Therefore, he demands a goog salary.” The example about a worker supporting a family is relevant but not clearly connected to why employers reject older applicants. Group causes and solutions separately, and use clearer references and transitions to show how each point supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “responsible,” “skilled,” “salaries,” “expenditures,” and “restrictions,” so the main ideas can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less precise. Examples include “good jobs for people over the age of 50 years,” “full fill their expenses,” and “aged segement.” “Heavy work” and “lazy” are also imprecise or overly judgemental descriptions in this context. Aim for more accurate employment vocabulary, such as “physically demanding roles,” “salary expectations,” and “age discrimination.” Check spelling carefully and choose neutral terms so your claims sound measured and appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because,” “so that,” and “who,” but complex sentences are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “every company prefer” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “they do not want get people” is missing “to.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “a person over the age of 50 years who is responsible for their families and home expenditures.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, particularly around sentence endings. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas harder to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly controlled subordinate clause, then check agreement, verb forms, and punctuation.
