Student answer (Band 6.0)

Individuals over the of age of 50 face difficulties to find better jobs, despite their experitise.

The essay will give details about the causes of this problem and some of its solutions.

On the one hand, people over the age of 50 hold years of experience and well set of skills to perfectly fulfil the job requirements. Corporations are now a days more concerned about profits and usually when companies face minor hurdles to achieve their targets they start cost cutting. The individuals with great experience who are working in corporations require significant incentives in compensations related to their work and experiences. Firms usually try to replace them with fresh graduates who can work on low wages. Another thing I faced during my working days it is really hard to convenience elder people to adopt and change their working style to meet with demand of the hour, specially modern age tools. Individuals over the age of 50 find latest technology more complicated rather than helpfull.

On the other hand, public above the age of 50 are the crucial part of a organization. They had experiences all ups and downs during their time at any organization; which can help companies to solve complicated issues in a timely manner. Technology is something new for them but companies can arrange sessions to help them to know positives of the tech tools.

In conclusion, I believe individuals over the age of 50 needs to adopt with the modern age demands of the firms to remain relevent to them. Corporations should also consider that the individuals had spent years to gain valuable knowledge and they can be very usefull to them; hence, they should prefer experience over money.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both causes and possible measures, and your position is clear: employers may favour cheaper graduates, while older workers and companies should respond through adaptation and training. The explanation that experienced employees may require higher compensation is relevant, as is the suggestion that firms arrange technology sessions. However, the causes are developed more fully than the solutions, which are brief and general. The point about older workers finding technology complicated could be explained further, and the proposed training would be stronger with details about how it helps workers remain competitive. Your conclusion also introduces the idea that employers should prefer experience over money, but this is not fully supported in the body. Develop each main idea with a specific example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two main paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrast between employers’ cost-cutting and the value of older employees gives the discussion an overall direction, and phrases such as “On the one hand” and “In conclusion” help signal stages. However, the paragraphing does not clearly separate the causes from the solutions: the second body paragraph combines the value of older workers with a training measure. Some links are also awkward or unclear, such as “Another thing I faced during my working days it is really hard,” which makes the relationship between the personal observation and the preceding point difficult to follow. Organise the body around distinct causes and measures, and use clearer sentence links and references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cost cutting,” “fresh graduates,” “incentives,” “complicated issues” and “modern age tools.” These choices show an attempt to discuss employment and workplace change with some range. However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, including “experitise,” “convenience” where you mean persuade, “helpfull,” and “remain relevent.” Phrases such as “well set of skills” and “positives of the tech tools” are also not natural in this context. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe workers as having “a well-developed skill set” and refer to the “benefits of new technologies.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “who can work on low wages” and a conditional structure in “when companies face minor hurdles … they start cost cutting.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. Examples include “over the of age of 50,” “a organization,” and “individuals … needs,” where articles or subject–verb agreement are incorrect. The sentence “Another thing I faced during my working days it is really hard…” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “They had experiences all ups and downs” uses an unsuitable verb form and construction. Practise accurate agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, and revise complex sentences to ensure each has a clear subject and verb.
