Student answer (Band 6.0)
Despite of having experience, older people find it difficult to get a job in some countries. There are several reasons why people of over 50 rarely get any jobs. In this assay, I will discuss some problem behind it and give some probable solutions that can increase the number of eldery people in job sectors.
One of the main reason is that older people is less capable than younger in terms of maintaining substantial pressure mainly because the lack of their physical and mental strength. It is often argued that our cognitive function is declined gradually with our age. As a result, older people may not memorise certain things but this ability is inevitable in some types of job fields for example, reasarch based jobs and job in IT farm. Moreover, they have lack of muscle power and can get sick by minimum work related stress. Therefore, they are not competable for maintaing heavy work. In addition, they have lack of knowledge about cuting-edge technology, which is ubiquitiousy used almost every job sectors.
Besides some barriers older people have much more experiences that they gain throughout their entire life from various perspectives. In some cases older people are more able to take responsibilities than younger people. We have to utilize their experience in specific field. Firstly, we have to identify their best skills in aparticular field. Secondly, examine their physical and mental ability to identify if they are competable or not. Thirdly, we have to consider their lackings and try to improve as much as possible. Finally, we have to motivate and encourage themselves to engage with modern technology.
In conclusion, although older people have lack of ability and limited knowledge about modern technology, we can make them suitable for a number of jobs. From my point of view, as they have enough experience we should utilize this in different field by considering their inability.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both parts of the question: you identify possible causes, including reduced physical or cognitive capacity and limited familiarity with new technology, and suggest ways to assess and support older workers. Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion, and the ideas are relevant. However, the causes are presented largely as general claims—for example, that older people may struggle with pressure or memory—without explaining how these beliefs affect employers’ hiring decisions. The proposed measures, such as identifying skills and assessing ability, are also listed rather than fully explained, and the response gives little concrete support or examples. Develop the link between each cause and the employment problem, then explain how specific measures could address it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction to causes, proposed measures, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Moreover,” “Firstly,” and “Finally” help readers follow the progression. However, the second body paragraph shifts from acknowledging older workers’ experience to a checklist of measures, so the relationship between these points could be made clearer. Some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated step-by-step transitions, and references such as “this ability” and “their lackings” do not always identify the intended idea precisely. Use topic sentences to signal each paragraph’s main purpose, and connect each proposed measure explicitly to a cause discussed earlier.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cognitive function,” “cutting-edge technology,” “responsibilities,” and “utilize,” which helps convey the subject. Some less common expressions are not used accurately or naturally, however: “IT farm” appears to mean an IT field, “ubiquitiously” is an awkward choice in this context, and “competable” is not the appropriate word for suitability. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “assay,” “reasarch,” “eldery,” and “maintaining.” These do not generally prevent understanding, but they reduce precision and fluency. Prioritise accurate collocations and check spelling; simpler, correct wording is more effective than an ambitious but inaccurate choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which is ubiquitiously used” and a conditional structure in “if they are competable or not.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “One of the main reason is” needs a plural noun, while “older people is less capable” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “because the lack of their physical and mental strength,” the grammatical pattern after “because” is incomplete; use “because of” before a noun phrase. Review agreement and article use, and check that each clause has a complete, correctly formed structure.
