Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify one possible cause: you suggest that people over 50 may tire more quickly and have less energy at work. You also offer a possible measure, namely helping them find less physically demanding jobs. These points are relevant, but the response addresses the task only minimally: it does not explain why employers may reject experienced older applicants, and the proposed solution is not developed or supported with an example. The response also stops before completing its final thought (“And”), leaving the discussion unfinished. It is substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough material to explain and support both causes and measures. Develop several relevant points and show how each proposed measure would help.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic connection between the prompt and your response: you first mention the difficulty older people face, then give a possible cause and a solution. This provides a simple overall direction. However, the ideas are not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the response ends abruptly with “And,” so the progression is incomplete. The linking phrases “In my mind” and “We can solve it” signal a viewpoint and a solution, but they do not establish clear relationships between developed points. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate paragraphs for causes and solutions, and a conclusion. Use linking expressions to show how each explanation follows from the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary communicates a few basic ideas relevant to the topic, including “full of energy,” “feel tired,” and “easy jobs.” These phrases make your general meaning understandable, but the range is limited and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “in the ageof 50” and “from my prospective.” The response also repeats simple wording rather than using language to distinguish between physical demands, employer attitudes, and suitable work. Build a topic-specific range and use collocations such as “physically demanding roles,” “experienced applicants,” and “age-related assumptions.” Check spelling and spacing as well, including the joined forms “ageof” and “inthe.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to express a viewpoint and connect a cause with a solution, but most of its sentences use simple structures, so there is little evidence of a wider grammatical range. Several errors affect accuracy: “it is true that very difficult” is missing a subject and verb structure, “the main things is” has an agreement error, and “they do not doing work” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence about feeling tired also lacks a clear grammatical connection between its parts. Practise complete clauses, subject–verb agreement, and verb patterns such as “do not work” or “may become tired.” Then try combining ideas accurately with subordinate clauses, for example, explaining why some employers may prefer younger candidates.
