Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some countries, it can be very difficult for people over the age of 50 to get good jobs, despite their experience. It is because the companies and the shop owner thinks that they will not able to work properly as compare to a young man. Many companies and shop owner rejects the man over the age of 50, because of their age. As they have a good skill but they are rejected because of their age.

In my opinion, the people should gave a chance, they should hire them and teach them the work so they will able to do it.many old people get bored at home. At that age too, they want to do work and earn for their family. Moreover, some employers think that they will retire soon, so they prefer young employers who can work for longer time.

However there are several ways to solve this problem. Firstly, companies should select work for employees according to their age and experience.Secondly government should provide training and courses for people who don't have skills.

in addition, experienced employers should give training to new employers, so this will help them too in their life.I think these solutions can help people to do work. I have sawed many youger people doing job and older people facing difficulties to find a good job. They were only rejected beacuse of two things. Their age and no skills. So it is better to teach them something that can help them to find job. As well as, there is another soultion for this. If we know someone who have job opportunities, then we should give the person who is finding job the contact number of the boss. So he can work there.

In concluion, as the technology is growing so fastly, everyone is busy doing jobs, business and study. There are several work that anyone can do. So if we will work hard, then we will definitely get succedd.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both parts of the question by identifying age discrimination and employers’ concerns about retirement, then suggesting training, age-appropriate work and help with job contacts. These are relevant causes and measures, and your view that older people should be given opportunities is apparent. However, the causes are not consistently separated from the solutions, and several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, “they will not able to work properly” needs support or qualification, while the suggestion to pass on a boss’s contact number is not developed into a broader measure. To strengthen the response, explain how each cause affects hiring and show how each proposed measure would address it, using a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable overall shape: it introduces the problem, discusses possible responses and ends with a conclusion. Basic signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main sections. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and ideas sometimes repeat or shift abruptly. The point that older people are rejected because of age appears several times, while the final paragraph moves from technology to general claims about work and then to working hard, without clearly summarising the proposed solutions. Some linking is mechanical, and sentence boundaries are unclear in places, such as “do it.many old people.” Group causes together and measures together, then use clear references and transitions to show how each point connects.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the central issue, including “experience,” “skills,” “training,” “employers” and “job opportunities.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “job,” “work” and “age.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “select work for employees according to their age” and “work for longer time.” Spelling errors, including “beacuse,” “concluion” and “succedd,” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise employment vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For instance, you could describe age-based rejection as “age discrimination” and say that employers may “prioritise younger applicants” or offer “role-specific training.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use basic complex structures, including “because” clauses and a conditional beginning “If we know someone who have job opportunities.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “the shop owner thinks” after a plural subject, “they will not able,” “people should gave,” and “I have sawed.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “do it.many old people,” and several sentences run together. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, modal verb patterns (“should give,” “will be able”), and past-tense forms. Then proofread for capital letters and full stops so that each sentence expresses one complete idea.
