Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is a fact that in some countries, it can be very difficult to get a job for people over the age of 50.
There are several root causes for the same. However a few solutions could be offered to resolve the situation to a large extent. Both the reasons and measures are elaborated further.
Examining the reasons, the most common is the new age of artificial intelligence. This is because AI is rapidly being used in different sectors of work. With AI and its advantages, companies often tend to neglect the years of experience of their employees. For an example, a very close friend of mine shared that her uncle who lived abroad lost his job due to the addition of new technologies. They were relieved of their duties as theirskills and experience were no longer required. A job of 10 people was completed by a single robot. This saved money and time.
Moreover, the other cause is the inclination towards the younger generation. They are well versed with the new technologies, they have a better understanding of the new trends and the demands of the market and people. They tend to bring newer and fresh perspectives which can be beneficial for the company. For example, in my college younger staff is given more preference as they are well suited to handle the technologies and understand the minds and requirements of today's generation.
On the contrary, to combat the issue, some productive steps can help to overcome to a large extent. The foremost is that companies can invest in workshops in order to engage the older staff. For example, in our college regular workshops are held wherein people teach about newer technologies in the field of physiotherapy. We even have expert sessions about the use of artificial intelligence. Besides this the companies can often make the best use of both the worlds. That is experience and technologies. Both can work hand in hand. The experienced people can assign the tasks to the younger generation and they in turn can understand the requirements of the task and make the use of the technology more efficient.
To conclude, although there are several issues due to the advancements in today's world, but understanding that experience and technology can go hand in hand can solve the problems to a large extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both parts of the question: you identify technological change and employers’ preference for younger workers as causes, then suggest training and cooperation between age groups as measures. The examples about your friend’s uncle and college workshops make the discussion relevant, and your conclusion restates the central idea. However, some points are more fully explained than others. The claim that AI replaces older workers is illustrated, but the link between age and job loss could be made more precise; similarly, the preference for younger staff is described rather than explored in depth. Develop each cause and measure with clearer explanation of how it affects hiring or retention. The response also includes eight words copied from the prompt, which are excluded from the stated count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs on causes, a paragraph on solutions, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and signposts such as “Examining the reasons,” “Moreover,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, these transitions feel formulaic, and some links between sentences are not fully clear. For instance, “They were relieved of their duties” has an unclear reference, while “On the contrary” does not accurately signal a contrast with the preceding discussion. Use more precise referencing and choose connectors that express the actual relationship between ideas. This would make the cohesion less mechanical and the progression more consistently smooth.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “artificial intelligence,” “inclination,” “perspectives,” and “combat the issue.” These choices allow you to discuss technology, hiring preferences, and possible responses. There are also some imprecise or unnatural collocations, such as “new age of artificial intelligence,” “For an example,” and “make the best use of both the worlds.” “A job of 10 people was completed by a single robot” is understandable but overly absolute and would benefit from more measured wording. Aim for precise, natural combinations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “newer” and “technology.” The meaning remains clear overall, but more consistent control of collocation and register would strengthen the vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including cause-and-effect clauses (“This is because AI is rapidly being used…”) and a conditional-style explanation of cooperation between age groups. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “However a few solutions” needs punctuation after the introductory word, and “They are well versed…, they have…” joins two independent clauses with a comma. In the conclusion, “although … but” uses two contrasting structures together. There are also agreement and sentence-boundary issues in “A job of 10 people was completed by a single robot” and the following sentence. Review punctuation in compound sentences and avoid combining “although” with “but”; this will improve accuracy while preserving your range.
