Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both causes and possible solutions, and your main position is that older workers face competition from younger people and need support to adapt. The causes you identify—fewer vacancies and employers’ preference for workers with newer skills—are relevant. However, the ideas remain limited and are not sufficiently explained: for example, you assert that younger people work faster and make fewer errors without giving a specific example or explaining why this should disadvantage experienced applicants. The proposed “olderly people friendly working environment” is also vague, while learning new skills is mentioned but not developed into a practical measure. The response is 12 words below the required minimum, and the shortfall contributes to the limited development. Explain each cause and solution more fully and support them with relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation: the opening introduces the issue, the next paragraph discusses causes, and the final paragraph offers solutions and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic sense of the response’s direction. However, progression is not consistently clear, and several ideas are repeated rather than developed. For instance, the claim that younger people have better skills appears in similar forms in both the opening and the causes paragraph. Linking phrases such as “In order to solve those problems” and “To solve such problems” are repetitive, while “Although” does not clearly connect the ideas that follow it. Use distinct paragraphs for causes and measures, and connect each point with clear references and transitions so the argument advances rather than restates itself.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “employment opportunities,” “job vacancies,” “innovative,” and “skills and knowledge.” These choices help communicate the general issue. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand, such as “olderly individuals,” “convinient,” and “inaccurate data” where the intended meaning is unclear. There are also repeated general terms such as “problems,” “people,” and “ideas,” which reduce precision. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More specific language—such as describing recruitment preferences, digital skills, or workplace training—would help you explain the causes and solutions more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause beginning “Although” and a reason introduced by “As.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “As population has increased rapidly due to which there are less job vacancies” combines clauses incorrectly, and “most of the institutions … whose work are” has problems with clause structure and subject–verb agreement. Other examples include “people who aged 50” and “they cannot compete the newer generation,” where verb forms or grammatical patterns are incomplete. Practise building one clear main clause before adding subordinate information, and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
