You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In present time companies prefer young people over aged people due to their new thoughts and modren mindset. And it is hard for for elder people to get jobs.

Firstly companies choose young people instead of 50+ because they think young people are more energetic and quick in response to every work . Which help companies to grow up. Recently we have seen many examples in our society that compnies with young employes are rising at high rate comparatively the companies with aged people . So the energy of a person is a important factor for any institute to hire a employe .

Another crucial point is creativity. Young minds are more creative than elder ones.

So institutes also look for the peoples who have new ideas.while the aged people often lack this quality. It is seen in our world that every next coming genration is more intellectual than the previous one. So that is why yonug people are more preferable in present times .

Moreover, manging your work is also a important factor . Young people can manage their work more efficiently . They are well manered . For example in any office we can see the young individuals working their work with complete focus . On the other hand aged people are distracted by many things and can't mange their work and don't complete it on time.

The problem can be solved by government . Government should make policies that at a certain limit of age everyone in the society has equal oppourtunity to get a job and the aged people should also change their attitude . They should do their work with focus .

By making policies for aged people it would also helpful for the socities that even elder people of the society are contributing .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant causes of employers preferring younger applicants, including perceived energy, creativity, and ability to manage work, and you offer a government-policy measure. However, the response only partly answers the task: the causes receive most of the discussion, while the proposed solution is brief and not explained in practical terms. For example, “make policies” does not specify what protections or incentives would improve access to good jobs, and asking older people to “change their attitude” is not clearly linked to overcoming age discrimination. Some claims, such as younger people being more creative or older workers being distracted, are broad and unsupported. Develop a balanced position with specific examples and explain how each measure addresses the causes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs on causes, and a concluding paragraph proposing a solution. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Another crucial point,” and “Moreover” help signal the progression. However, the organisation is somewhat mechanical, and several paragraphs repeat the same general claim that young workers are preferable without building a distinct argument. Connections between ideas are sometimes unclear, as in “Which help companies to grow up,” and the final paragraph moves quickly from government policy to older workers’ attitude. Use clearer links between each cause and its consequence, and organise the solution paragraph around specific measures with explanations. More precise referencing would also help readers follow what “this quality” and “it” refer to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “energetic,” “creativity,” “policies,” and “equal opportunity,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “young people” and “aged people.” Several word choices and collocations are unnatural, such as “grow up” for a company’s development, “manage their work,” and “rising at high rate.” Spelling errors—including “modren,” “compnies,” “employes,” and “genration”—are noticeable and reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise employment-related language, such as “older applicants,” “workforce,” and “age discrimination,” and check spelling and collocations carefully. This would make the argument clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “people who have new ideas” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, the range remains limited, and complex attempts often contain errors. For example, “Which help companies to grow up” is an incomplete sentence, while “So a important factor” constructions show problems with articles and sentence formation. There are also agreement and verb-form errors, such as “young minds are more creative than elder ones” being followed by “the aged people often lack this quality” without a clear, well-supported comparison, and “it would also helpful” missing a verb. Review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then practise combining ideas accurately.
