Student answer (Band 5.0)
There are many countries in which, it has become difficult to find a good for the people who are above the age of 50 even they have experience . It can cause poorty. In my opinion the government should support the old people in regard of employment.
There are several reasons why elder people are unemployed. Firstly, their work style and speed has become slow as compare to the young employees while companies demand for fast employees. Young employees work more efficiently and fast which leads to more production and high profit. Secondly, their physical and mental ability has become week therefore they make more errors and take more time to complete one task. However company faces loss for their errors. Lastly, their style of working is ancient they are not familiar with updated methods. For instance they have no idea how to use new technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify several relevant causes, including employers’ preference for speed, concerns about older workers’ abilities, and unfamiliarity with new technology. These points show some understanding of the issue, but the response addresses the task only partially: it does not explain measures to solve the problem, despite the question asking for both causes and solutions. Your opening briefly suggests government support, but this is not developed into a specific measure. The causes are also asserted rather than supported with examples or explanation. The response is 146 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; this leaves too little space to develop the required ideas. To improve, discuss practical measures such as retraining, age-discrimination rules, or incentives for employers, and explain how each would help.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction is followed by a paragraph listing causes, and sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Lastly” make the order easy to follow. This gives the reader a general sense of organisation. However, there is no concluding paragraph, and the ideas do not progress to the solutions required by the task. Some links are mechanical, with each cause introduced in the same way, while the relationship between claims is not always made clear. For example, the point about errors is followed by “However company faces loss,” but the contrast marker does not fit the intended cause-and-effect relationship. Use clearer links such as “As a result” and organise the response into distinct paragraphs for causes and measures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “employees,” “production,” “profit,” “errors,” and “technology,” which allows the main causes to be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the reader pause. Examples include “poorty,” “work style and speed has become slow,” “physical and mental ability has become week,” and “updated methods.” Some expressions are also repetitive, particularly references to employees and working speed. Aim for more precise language, such as “poverty,” “productivity,” “physical or cognitive capacity,” and “up-to-date working methods.” Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations so that your vocabulary communicates ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a sentence beginning “Firstly” and a subordinate clause with “while.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and prepositions. For example, “There are many countries in which, it has become difficult” has an unnecessary comma and an awkward clause structure; “their work style and speed has become slow” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “even they have experience” needs a clearer grammatical link. There are also missing or inconsistent articles, as in “However company faces loss.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check each sentence for a clear subject, verb, and appropriate article.
