You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some countries like Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, it is very hard for people (over the age of 50) to find a good job despite having a really good experience. In our area, most of the elder people rarely finds a good job.

The main cause of this issue is because large organizations seek more energetic employers. They think that older people can not do a job more effeciently as compared to the young ones. The young generation easily replaces elder people in good jobs due to their intelligence, energy, and confidence. One cause can be regarding health issues as well. Large organizations know that normally after 45 years or 50 years, people start to have many health issues for which they to pay the Medical Allowance. For some jobs, young people are most suitable because of their attractive face. In addition, there is one problem which is limited or old knowledge about technology. With evolving world only the fittest can survive.

Some measures can be taken in order to sove this hurdle. One of which is to provide jobs which do not actually seek alot of energy like Managerial level jobs, and Data analyst jobs. Government can create a policy to increase the age limit for job eligibility. However, Private sectors do have alot of designations which can be filled by elder people easily. For example, The Data analyst job does not actually requires much energy. One just needs the skills and he/she can easily get the job.

In conclusion, I can say that if there will be possible availabilities then Employers should give an opportunities to elder people also.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both causes and possible measures, and your position—that employers should offer suitable opportunities to older people—is clear in the conclusion. Relevant causes include employers’ preference for younger workers, health-related concerns, and limited technology knowledge; you also suggest managerial or data-analysis roles and a government policy. However, several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that younger people replace older workers because of “intelligence, energy, and confidence” needs support, and the health-cost point is not clearly connected to hiring decisions. The proposed measures are also only partly developed: explain how training or age-discrimination rules could work and who would implement them. The response meets the required length; eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, one on solutions, and a conclusion. This makes the main direction easy to follow, and signposts such as “The main cause,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes uneven. The causes paragraph moves from energy and health to appearance and technology without showing how these points relate or which are most important. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “One of which” are not fully clear. To improve, group related causes together, use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “health issues,” “technology,” “job eligibility,” and “Data analyst.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “measures can be taken” and “limited … knowledge.” However, the range is limited and some choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, which reduces precision: “energetic employers” appears to mean energetic employees, while “attractive face” is an unclear reason for hiring. Spelling errors such as “effeciently” and “sove,” and forms such as “alot,” are noticeable. Aim for precise employment-related terms and check spelling and collocations; this will make your arguments clearer and more appropriately academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “jobs which do not actually seek…” and a conditional idea in the conclusion. Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur across sentence patterns and sometimes make the reader pause. For example, “most of the elder people rarely finds” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “the job does not actually requires” uses an incorrect verb form. Other examples include “for which they to pay” and “if there will be possible availabilities,” where the grammatical structure is incomplete or unnatural. Work on agreement, verb forms, articles, and complete conditional sentences. Building accurate sentences first, then adding subordinate clauses, will improve control.
