Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies a few relevant features, including the range of shops as a leading positive and litter as a major problem, but it does not adequately report the charts. The overview says litter “increased in all three years,” whereas it rises from 70% to 75% and then falls to 65%; air quality also declines from 66% to 60%, rather than remaining the same. The final sentence about shops is unfinished and gives no supporting figures or comparisons, and most categories in both bar charts are omitted. The response is also 32 words below the required minimum. To improve, give a clear overview of the main patterns and support it with accurate comparisons across the three years.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and a final statement about the best feature. The opening also signals the survey’s subject, and “Overall” helps mark the summary. However, the report has little progression beyond the overview, because the final paragraph is only a fragment of an idea and does not develop the bar-chart information. Some links between claims are unclear, such as the statement that air quality “remained same” followed by noise being “fewer.” Organise the response into a complete introduction, a concise overview, and paragraphs comparing the positive and negative features, using clear references to the relevant years and categories.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “survey,” “percentage,” “major problem,” “air quality,” and “range of shops,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts awkward to interpret: “finalized data,” “the city who are lived in London,” and “best thing are low as compare with worst things.” “Fewer” is also unsuitable for describing a percentage or figure. Use precise chart-reporting language such as “proportion,” “ranked highest,” “declined,” and “compared with,” and name categories consistently. This would make the limited set of comparisons clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer constructions, including “The line chart provide information that major problem was litter,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “The line chart provide” and “who are lived in London”; articles and plural forms are also problematic in “over 3 year period” and “the percentage of best thing are low.” The sentence about air quality, “was remained same,” combines verb forms incorrectly. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, past-tense reporting, and article use, then build longer sentences from those reliable patterns. Punctuate and complete the final statement rather than leaving it as a fragment.
