Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by describing the provided charts. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains inaccuracies. For example, you state that 'litter started at 70% in year 1', but the graph shows it starting at approximately 75%. Additionally, the description of the 'worst things' is confusing, as you group several categories together under a single percentage figure, which does not accurately reflect the data presented. To improve, ensure you carefully distinguish between the different categories and provide more precise data points. While you cover the main features, the lack of clarity in data reporting prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The report is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'Moving further' is used to introduce a new section, but the logical flow between the bar charts and the line graph is disjointed. Some sentences are repetitive, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as when you refer to 'year 1, 2' without clearly distinguishing the trends between them. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and contains several spelling errors that distract the reader. Words like 'coast' are used instead of 'cost', and 'aur' is used instead of 'air'. You also use 'flow up' to describe a trend, which is not standard academic terminology. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'ratio' and 'percentage', the frequent errors in word choice and spelling limit your ability to convey information with precision. Focusing on accurate spelling and using more formal, academic collocations would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('best things about living in London is range of shops') and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your sentence structures are consistently error-free.
