Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 150 words, which severely limits the ability to address all parts of the task. The report is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence at the end. While the introduction attempts to identify the charts, the body paragraphs fail to provide a detailed overview or specific data points from the visuals. The analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to meet the requirements of an Academic Task 1 report. To improve, you must ensure you describe the key features and trends shown in the charts, providing specific data to support your observations, and ensure the response is fully developed and completed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression because it is unfinished. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the lack of a completed body paragraph makes it difficult to assess the overall structure. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic way, such as 'Overall' and 'while', but the abrupt ending prevents the text from flowing coherently. To improve, focus on organizing your report into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two or more body paragraphs that group related data logically. Ensure you use a variety of linking words to connect your ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'best things' and 'worst thing' are used repeatedly, and there are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the worst thing you found' and 'the range of shops is one of the best thing'. The vocabulary is sufficient for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band score. To improve, try to use more academic synonyms and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'significant', 'fluctuations', and 'a notable trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'the worst thing that found in living' is grammatically incorrect, and 'One of the major problem' should be 'One of the major problems'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. The unfinished nature of the text also means that the grammatical control cannot be fully evaluated. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, pluralization, and the correct use of relative clauses. Practice writing complete, error-free sentences and gradually incorporate more complex structures like passive voice or subordinate clauses.
