Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the provided charts but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the data. The information is presented in a fragmented manner, and there is a lack of precision in describing trends. For example, stating 'shops range is more than 40%' is vague, and the report fails to distinguish between the different years or categories effectively. The summary of the 'worst things' is also underdeveloped and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the prompt. The response lacks a clear structure for a report, such as an introduction or a distinct overview of the main trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes incorrect way, such as 'At a glance' used to introduce a specific trend rather than an overview. Referencing is often unclear, and the transition between the positive and negative aspects of living in London is abrupt. The sentences within paragraphs do not always flow logically, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the data over the three-year period.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', 'increase', and 'decrease'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'mixture of people are decrease' and 'transport facilites are same condition'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe statistical trends or categories. Spelling errors, such as 'nigt', 'simmilor', and 'facilites', are noticeable throughout the text, which occasionally hinders the clarity of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('The chart is illustrates', 'mixture of people are decrease') and article usage ('a london city'). Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty or lack the necessary punctuation. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors and the lack of variety in sentence construction limit the score in this criterion.
