Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to describe the provided charts but fails to present a clear overview or highlight key trends effectively. While it mentions various categories, the data interpretation is often confusing or inaccurate (e.g., stating 'in third year, the best things are museum and art galleries' without clear reference to the data). The report lacks a coherent summary of the main features, and the final paragraph is repetitive and contradictory, failing to synthesize the information provided in the charts. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant changes or highest/lowest values rather than listing data points in a disjointed manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Moreover, that time first year' or 'which things about living in London' at the end of the text, which is a sentence fragment. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow which data point corresponds to which year or category. The final paragraph is particularly problematic as it repeats information already mentioned and fails to provide a logical conclusion to the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'worst things' and 'best things' are used repeatedly, indicating a lack of lexical variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'mixture of people' (likely referring to 'cultural diversity') and 'people lead problems'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe statistical trends, relying on basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The given bar charts... represents'), missing articles ('in first year'), and incorrect preposition usage. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'amongst than other things'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and misused commas. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity of the report.
