Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, but there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For example, you state job opportunities were 45% in the second and third years, but the graph shows a different trend. Furthermore, the description of the 'worst things' is confusingly presented, with contradictory statements regarding the percentages of crime and traffic congestion. While you identify the main trends, the lack of precision in data interpretation and the misreading of the figures prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure that the data cited matches the visual information exactly and avoid making generalisations that are not supported by the provided graphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'On the other hand' are used to transition between paragraphs, but the logical connection between the ideas is sometimes weak. Additionally, there are issues with referencing; for instance, the sentence 'Other worst reason are crime and traffic congestion' lacks a clear link to the previous data. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that pronouns and linking words are used accurately would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrate', 'outcomes', and 'congestion'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'best things' (which is repetitive) and 'major problem' (when referring to litter). Some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'Museum life seems to decrease'. To reach a higher band, try to use more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your collocations are natural. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and adjectives would also help to make your descriptions more sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'range of shop is', 'Other worst reason are') and article usage (e.g., 'in the London'). There are also issues with pluralisation, such as 'three year' instead of 'three years'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, especially regarding plurals and verb forms, will help you achieve a higher score.
