Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview of the data. The description of the trends is confusing, particularly the claim that the 'worst things was cost of housing,' which is not supported by the provided image. Furthermore, the report lacks a clear distinction between the bar charts and the line graph, and the data points mentioned are often imprecise or incorrectly interpreted. While the main features are identified, the lack of clarity and the inclusion of inaccurate information prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on accurately reporting the data shown and ensuring the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than listing individual figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or incorrect, such as 'Further and even more importantly pivotal things' and 'In additionally.' The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationship between the different categories of data. While there is an attempt to use linking words, they are often used inappropriately, which hinders the flow of the report. Improving the variety and accuracy of cohesive devices will help create a more logical and professional progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices. For example, 'considerable soaring' is not a standard collocation, and 'the another significant things' is grammatically incorrect. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use more precise terms to describe trends or data. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'the best things concerning to living.' To reach a higher band, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing data, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' or 'accounted for,' and focus on correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the best things... was' and 'the worst things was.' Articles are frequently misused or omitted, and sentence structures are often simplistic or awkward. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. The student should focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for improving the overall clarity and accuracy of the writing.
