The univercity lecturer described in his report about the best things in london and the worst things. It is obvious on the chart that the range of shops have a very positive feedback but has declined a littile between 45 to 42 or 43 percent. People have a positve view about job appourtunities but it has also declined in there years. The view on transportation has remain the same. Things on which the positive view has increased are the diversity of different people and night life. Now coming to the worst things. the cost of living which eventhough has decreased is still at 48 to 49 persent. Traffic congestion and crime are also toping the chart with a little bit decrease. The cost of living is gone a little bit up but the transport prices has declined and remain the same for the last two years. Now we come to the major problems the london is facing litter, air quailty and noise. the quality of litter was worse in the year two according to the survey but has been a little better in the year three. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is inconsistent and lacks a clear overview. While you identify some trends, the description of the data is often vague (e.g., 'a little bit decrease') rather than using precise figures or comparative language. The report lacks a clear structure, failing to group information logically or provide a summary of the most significant trends. Furthermore, the introduction is inaccurate, as it describes the lecturer's report rather than summarizing the provided charts. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview of the main trends in the second paragraph and use specific data points to support your descriptions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks effective paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt to organize the information by 'best things' and 'worst things', the transition between these sections is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'now we come to'. The lack of clear topic sentences and logical linking between sentences hinders the overall flow. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive, relying on basic phrasing such as 'a little bit' and 'the chart'. There are several spelling errors, including 'univercity', 'appourtunities', 'persent', and 'quailty', which occasionally distract the reader. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'traffic congestion' and 'diversity', the lack of precision in describing trends (e.g., 'gone a little bit up') limits the score. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the transport prices has declined'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing capital letters at the start of sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the text from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation and capitalization errors.
