Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address all three visual elements provided in the prompt (two bar charts and one line graph). However, the response fails to provide an effective overview, presenting instead a fragmented description of specific features. Furthermore, many of the data points and figures cited in the text (such as stating 46% for job opportunities or mentioning specific figures that misrepresent the charts) are inaccurate or incorrectly interpreted based on the provided visual data. The task response is hindered by a lack of clear trend identification and numerous data inaccuracies. This corresponds to Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is poorly structured with a run-on sentence ('...While the line graph shows that a major things litter...'). Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'Overalls' instead of 'Overall', and 'Lookin at the details' for paragraph transitions. Referencing is frequently unclear, and sentences often lack smooth connections, leading to a disjointed reading experience that impedes overall coherence. This aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited vocabulary range with frequent word-form and spelling errors (e.g., 'pecentage', 'museium', 'roundabot', 'bwtween', 'pervent'). While some topic-related vocabulary is attempted ('cost of living', 'traffic congestion', 'job opportunities'), the overall control of lexical items is weak. Word choice is frequently imprecise, and spelling mistakes cause some difficulty for the reader. This performance sits firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There are numerous basic errors, incorrect tense usage, and incomplete sentence structures (e.g., 'While the line graph shows that a major things...', 'the second bar graph the 1st year of cost of living and second year...'). The range of sentence structures is very limited, and attempts at complex sentences frequently result in ungrammatical or incomprehensible clauses. Punctuation is also erratic. This warrants a Band 4.5, which rounds to 5.0 in standard reporting, or fits Band 5.0 descriptors for frequent errors causing difficulty.
