IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The bar charts and line graph below show the results of a survey conducted over a three-year period to discover what people who live in London think of the city.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information below.

What are the best things about living in London?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

There are advantages of living in London as well as disadvabntages. To show that graphs have been given to visually understansd the data for example one of the graphs shows data regarding the best things about living in London;on the other hand, there's another graph which shows the data about the worst things to live in London with that there's another graph which describes the data about the survey for major problems in London like litter, noise and air qulity.

first of all, the graph that is given represents the best things about living in London from range of shops to job opportunities, mixture of people , museums and art gallaries and in the end transport. The data shows how these things evolved in 3 years; for instance, the range of shops from 45% in year 1 came down to 42% in year 2 and again rose to 43%. Moreover,the job opportunities fall from 38% in year 1 to almost 35% in year 2 and 3 with that the mixture of people also fell down from 36% to 34%, but the the museums and art gallaries have been significantly increased from 30% in yer 1 to 33% in year 2 and almost 35% in year 3. The night life and transport shows almost the siimilar pattern as night life shows the increasing order as years pass by, but the transport shows a pattern in which it's been shown that in year 1 it was almost 22% but in year 2 it fell down a little and in year 3 it rose up again.

In contrast, the 2nd graph shows the worst things living in London which includes many things from cost of living to traffic congestion and crimes with that cost of housing and in the end transport .For instance, the cost of living in year 1 was more than 55%, in year 2 it gradually decreased to below 50% and in year 3 it rose up a little bit. Traffic congestion was almost 55% in yaer 1 and 2 both and in year 3 it dropped to 48%. furthermore the crime rate was almost 57% in year 1 and in year 2 trhere was a significant drop has been observed which was less than 40%; similarly, the pattern was same for the transport as it was 38% in year 1 and it dropped t0 lerss than 30%.

At last , there's graph given which shows the survey for major problems in London. There are three major problems included in this graph which are litter, air quality and in the end noise. The problem of noise was described by 70% of the people in year 1, and this percentage increased by 78% in year 2 the dropped to less than 70% in year 3. furthermore, the air quality index from 65% shows gradual decrease in following years. In the end, the noise problem also shows the similar pattern by gradually decreasing from year 1 to year 2 and then 3.
