Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to describe the charts and graph, but it responds to the task only minimally and tangentially. While the writer makes an initial attempt to introduce the topic and outline a broad trend ('range of shops increase, while transport decreased'), the overall selection and reporting of data is extremely limited and disorganised. The text fails to provide a clear, accurate summary of the provided data, often citing incorrect figures and confusing different charts. For instance, the writer states that the range of shops was 50% and mentions 'job interview', which demonstrates a significant misinterpretation of the visual data. Key features are not adequately highlighted or compared, leading to an underdeveloped and confusing report that only partially touches upon the prompt's requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently throughout the text. Although the student attempts a basic introduction and a concluding body structure by dividing the text into short paragraphs, the logical progression is severely disrupted. Sentences often lack clear connections, and cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as abrupt shifts like 'Then increased and decreased to litter' and 'The other two years and three years job opportinies...'. The referencing within and between sentences is frequently unclear, making it very difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information or understand which data points are being contrasted. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is absent, resulting in a disjointed response.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that strain the reader. Examples of lexical limitations include misspellings and incorrect terms such as 'live graph', 'disscover', 'bcity', 'noticabale', 'noice', 'rangge', 'opportinies', and 'wrost'. The student struggles to select appropriate terminology for describing statistical data, relying on simplistic phrasing and failing to demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for an academic task. While the general subject matter is touched upon, the lexical inadequacies and frequent spelling mistakes significantly impede smooth communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of structures, with frequent grammatical errors that frequently distort meaning and cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent errors in verb tenses and forms, such as 'which in conducted' instead of 'which was conducted', and 'range of shops increase' instead of 'increased'. Sentence structures are frequently faulty when attempting complex forms, leading to ungrammatical fragments and confusing clauses like 'The air quality and noice which is shown the 65% on air quality and then noice is on 55%'. Punctuation and article usage are also weak throughout the text, showing a lack of control over basic grammatical conventions.
