Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the survey’s general topic and make an attempt at an overview by noting that shops rank highly and transport is less popular. However, the report covers only the “best things” chart and omits both the chart of worst aspects and the line graph about litter, air quality and noise, so it addresses the task only partially. Several figures are also inaccurate or unclear: shops are reported as “45%.and 40%” without a clear year-by-year account, and job opportunities are described as “almost 30% and 35%,” although the first-year figure is about 38%. The response is also below the required 150 words. To improve, include a concise overview of all three visuals and select accurate comparisons across the years.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, beginning with an introduction, followed by an overview and then details about several categories. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover” and “Also” help signal relationships between points. However, the report is very short and does not develop a clear progression through the information; the second paragraph combines several categories and years without consistently identifying which figures belong to which year. Punctuation around transitions is also distracting, as in “Overall, it can be clearly seen that, the highest…” and “45%.and 40%.” Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and group figures in a clear sequence, such as comparing the leading categories first and then the lower-ranked ones.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to describing survey results, including “percentage,” “preference,” “approximately” and “figure,” and the reader can generally recognise the categories you mean. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “finall results,” “more intracted with,” “less interested in transportation system” and “citizen give more preference.” Spelling errors—including “indivisuals,” “apportunities” and “museaums”—also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “the proportion of respondents who selected…” and use the chart’s category labels accurately. Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would make your meaning clearer and more appropriate to an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both a complex opening sentence and a general overview, showing some willingness to use more than simple sentence patterns. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the report difficult to follow. For example, “the highest percentage of citizen give more preference” has problems with agreement and sentence construction, while “people were more intracted … almost 30% and 35% respectively” does not form a clear grammatical comparison. The phrase “In the commencing three years” also leads into an unclear sentence, and punctuation is often misplaced. Practise writing accurate comparative sentences with a clear subject and verb, for example, “The proportion choosing shops fell from about 45% in Year 1 to around 42% in Year 3.”
