What are the best things about living in London?

What are the best things about living in London?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

According to this bar chart, in shows what exactly people think of the city "London" in which they are living over the three year period. Each year of bar which is directly proportioned to percentage shows how people have been living in london. The three charts shows differences between best livings, worst experiences while living in london and highlighted problems in london.

Best things about living in London have been highlighted by people are the ranges of shops which people explore on daily basis. As london has been stated as the most saturated area, the more people living in such places the more opportunities would be available for people in terms of jobs.

Worst things have been highlighted as it's cost, which doesn't justify as london is actually the most expensive area after edinburdgh in UK. Because of population, trafiic has been so sophisticated which sometimes ruins the vibe of the place specially at night places. But over the period of time it has been draw down to less percentage comparing at fisrt year. Problems which were at pea at first year was Litter but after second year, it was also normalised and draw down to below 70%. Because of saturation, noise has been the problem and it will be. Such fully loaded places like London would always be noisy no matter what.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad subject and mention several relevant features, including shops, living costs, traffic, litter and noise. However, the report only partially describes the charts: it gives almost no accurate comparisons across all three years and omits important categories such as job opportunities, the mixture of people, museums and galleries, and air quality. Some claims are unsupported or inaccurate: the charts do not show that London is the UK’s most expensive area after Edinburgh, nor that traffic is linked to nightlife. The statement that litter fell below 70% after Year 2 is also misleading, since it rose to about 75% in Year 2 before falling to 65%. Add a clear overview and select key figures and trends from each visual.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: it introduces the visuals, then discusses positive features and problems. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, there is no clear overall progression through the three visuals, and the final paragraph moves between cost, traffic, litter and noise without consistently signalling comparisons or changes. Linking phrases such as “Because of population” and “But over the period of time” are used, but the relationships they express are sometimes unclear. Organise the report around an overview followed by the best things, worst things and major problems, and use explicit comparisons such as “by contrast” or “while” to connect data across years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “opportunities,” “traffic,” “cost” and “problems,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “each year of bar,” “most saturated area,” “traffic has been so sophisticated” and “draw down.” There are also spelling errors, including “trafiic,” “fisrt” and “pea,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart-report language and accurate collocations, for example “the proportion of respondents,” “the figure declined” and “traffic congestion.” Avoid adding descriptive claims that are not represented in the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a cause-and-effect construction beginning “Because of population,” and the main topic can usually be followed. However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. Examples include “in shows what exactly people think,” “Each year of bar which is directly proportioned to percentage,” and “Best things … have been highlighted by people are the ranges of shops.” These show problems with sentence formation, agreement, articles and verb patterns. Tense and clause control are also inconsistent, as in “it has been draw down.” Practise writing direct, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and verb forms before adding complex clauses.
