Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three chart topics and give a relevant overview, noting that shops are a leading positive feature and litter the main problem. You also select several useful comparisons, including the high crime figure in Year 1 and its lower level later. However, the report is only partially developed: it groups figures into broad averages and omits important changes, such as the fall in cost-of-living complaints from 57% to about 49–50%, and the rise and subsequent fall in litter. Some claims are imprecise: crime was not consistently among the worst at 45–60%, since it fell to around 38–40% in Years 2 and 3. Include clearer year-by-year comparisons and cover the positive and negative charts more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of supporting information. This helps the reader recognise the main topics, and phrases such as “In general” and “In comparison” signal the intended relationships. However, progression is limited because the second and third paragraphs repeat points already made in the overview, rather than developing distinct comparisons. Linking is sometimes awkward or mechanical, and punctuation around connectors is inconsistent, as in “3 years. The” and “60%.However”. Organise the details into clearer groups—for example, positive features, negative features, and reported problems—and use transitions to show changes across the years rather than relying on repeated summaries.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “range of shops”, “job opportunities”, “traffic congestion”, “air quality” and “average proportion”, so the topic is generally clear. There is also some attempt to vary wording with “individuals”, “citizens” and “people”. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “problems that faced by citizens”, “struggled from air quality”, and “amazing things” for survey responses. Spelling errors, including “avaerge”, “measumes” and “eith”, are noticeable and reduce precision. Aim for standard report language such as “respondents identified”, “the most highly rated features” and “were considered major problems”; check spelling and avoid using “average” when you mean a range or a specific percentage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “as”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “problems that faced by citizens” lacks a correctly formed relative clause, while “the bad thing were” has subject–verb disagreement. Articles, plurals and tense are also unreliable in phrases such as “a three different years” and “in next 2 year”. Some sentences run together because punctuation is missing before connectors. Practise building accurate comparisons with a clear subject and verb, such as “The proportion identifying litter rose before falling,” and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries before finishing.
