Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant features, including litter as a major problem and the popularity of shops, and you attempt to compare results across years. However, the overview is incomplete and some key claims are inaccurate: cost of living is not the highest-rated worst feature in every year, and museums and art galleries are not the lowest-rated positive feature. There are also misreported figures and years, such as “year 4” for Year 3, and the account of litter gives values that do not match the chart. The response also omits the air-quality results and gives limited coverage of the positive categories. Select the clearest overall patterns, then support them with accurate comparisons from all three charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic report structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs covering positive and negative aspects. This gives the reader some sense of the chart categories. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several comparisons are difficult to follow because the time references and figures are not consistently presented. For example, the positive-feature paragraph moves from shops to museums and nightlife without a clear organising principle, while the final paragraph shifts from housing to litter and noise. Linking words such as “whereas” and “then” are used, but connections can feel mechanical or unclear. Group the information by chart, order comparisons consistently across the three years, and use clear topic sentences and references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart-report vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “decreased,” and “increased,” so the reader can generally understand the comparisons you intend to make. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “highest proportion thing” and “most worst thing.” Some word choices also make the meaning unclear, including “Range of scope” for “range of shops” and “his highest point” for crime. Spelling errors such as “remain” written as “reamin,” “stable” as “stabel,” and inconsistent capitalisation reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise terms for ranking, change, and proportions, and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and comparisons using clauses with “whereas,” which shows some effort to vary sentence structure. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the report awkward. Examples include “the result of survey,” “individual who live,” and “litter was the major problem … from 3 years,” where articles, agreement, and sentence construction need attention. Tense and comparison patterns are also inconsistent, as in “This percentage decrease” and “reached at 48%.” Punctuation and spacing are sometimes faulty, particularly where sentences run together. Practise accurate past-tense reporting patterns, articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex structures.
