Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the charts’ broad subject and include some relevant comparisons, such as shops being the leading positive feature and litter peaking in Year 2. However, the report only partially covers the data: it gives few precise figures and omits several important patterns, including the mixture of people and the changes in cost of living, traffic and crime. Some statements are unclear or inaccurate; for example, “crime in 1st year under 60%” does not explain its comparison with later years, and the claim that problems decline steadily overlooks litter’s rise before its fall. The overview mentions good and bad sides but does not clearly summarise the main trends across all three charts. Select key highs, lows and changes, and support them with accurate figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview and paragraphs describing positive features and problems. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is grouped. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are compressed together, as in “simillerly Museums nightlife and transport are under 30%.” Connections between claims are sometimes unclear, while phrases such as “in every year” and “in 3 years” are repeated rather than used to show precise comparisons. The overview also does not clearly lead into the details. Organise the report by chart, use one main comparison per sentence, and connect changes with clear terms such as “whereas,” “by contrast” and “then.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “decline,” “major problem” and “under 40%,” so the reader can recognise the general topic and some trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “best place” for a survey category, “job system” and “steadly a decline.” Spelling errors—including “secound,” “simillerly,” “diffcult,” “noice” and “quilty”—also make the report less clear and less precise. Aim to use standard chart language consistently, such as “the most popular feature,” “job opportunities” and “fell gradually,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish categories and describe changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “The Chart and the line graph, give information about the Interview” has incorrect article use and punctuation, while “what they are think about the city” has a faulty verb form. In “Overall,in the report show,” the sentence lacks a clear subject and has punctuation problems. There are also inconsistent sentence boundaries and missing spaces after commas. Use straightforward, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and verb forms. Once these are reliable, add controlled comparisons using clauses such as “while” or “whereas.”
