Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three-year survey and include relevant features from the charts, such as shops being a leading positive feature, traffic and crime being concerns, and litter, air quality and noise being problems. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: the cost of living is not the worst-rated issue in every year, and litter peaks in Year 2, not “the second year” as a continuing concern followed by a peak near 80%. Several figures and comparisons are vague or misleading: job opportunities were about 38% in Year 1, not nearly 30%, while the mixture of people was around 34–36%, rather than nearly 40%. The response also omits clear comparisons across the years. Select the main highs, lows and trends, and report them precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, an attempted overview and two detail paragraphs, so there is some organisation and the reader can identify the broad topic. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak: positive features, transport, traffic, crime and environmental problems are mixed together without a consistent chart-by-chart structure. Linking phrases such as “At a fleeting glance,” “Moreover” and “as well as” do not always clarify how the information relates. The final sentence is incomplete, leaving the discussion of noise unfinished. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by paragraphs that group positive features, negative features and the line-graph problems, and use comparisons to connect the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “major concern,” “varieties,” “ethnic groups” and “fluctuations,” and the reader can generally understand the intended topics. However, word choice, collocation and spelling errors are frequent enough to make some descriptions unclear or unnatural. Examples include “shops with different varieties,” “good assumptions,” “avitable,” “dissappointed” and “noise pollutions.” Some expressions, such as “At a fleeting glance,” are also unsuitable for a formal data report. Use standard chart-reporting language and check spelling and word forms; for example, describe percentages as “accounting for” a share and trends as “rose,” “fell” or “remained stable.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
There are attempts to use complex structures, including clauses with “whilst,” “as” and “that,” but control is inconsistent, and many sentences contain errors that make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “The bar graphs depicts” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the line graphs shows” repeats this problem. Phrases such as “as comparing to” and “in 3 year of time” show faulty grammatical patterns, and the final sentence lacks a complete structure. Articles, plurals and verb forms also need attention. Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns and complete sentences, then add complex clauses and check that each sentence has a main verb.
