Student answer (Band 5.0)

The bar chart illustrates the result of a survey conducted overe a three-year to know the best things about living on london which include different categories Job opportunities, Night life, Transport, traffic congestion.

From an overall persapective we can see there are high range of shops and job opportuinites are top good point and night life, transport are the less ones. In contrast the other side shows traffic congestion and crime are negative source.

To begin with, the advantages of london city is range of shops which creates job opportunites through the three different years it increase to between 35-40% while, Night life and transport are the least things been considered.

Furthernmore, cost of living is being the major problem which takes nearly 60% and traffic congestion 50-55% in three different years while cost of housing and transport are leat ones which range between 25-30%.

Thus, litter is one source which has 70% in first year tops tops to 80% in second year after than it decrease to 65%. AIr quality is 65% in first year which declined in second year till third term it less to 58-60%. while noise has the same phase which had 58-59% in first term which reduced to 55% till third year.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant features across the charts, including shops and job opportunities as advantages, cost of living and congestion as disadvantages, and litter, air quality and noise as problems. However, the report only partially covers the information: the first chart’s “mixture of people” and museums are omitted, and the overview does not clearly summarise the main patterns across all three visuals. Some figures are inaccurate: job opportunities do not rise to 35–40% throughout, and litter reaches about 75% in Year 2, not 80%. The claim that shops create job opportunities is also unsupported by the chart. Select the most important comparisons and report them accurately, with a clear overview of the trends.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has separate paragraphs for an introduction, overview and chart details, so there is some organisation, and phrases such as “In contrast” and “Furthermore” attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the first detail paragraph combines shops, job opportunities, nightlife and transport without a precise comparison, while the final paragraph moves through three problem categories in a difficult-to-follow sequence. Some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, such as “while” beginning a sentence after a full stop. Group the information by chart and use clear topic sentences, then connect comparisons with precise references such as “by contrast” or “over the period.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “range of shops,” “job opportunities,” “traffic congestion” and “cost of housing,” which helps communicate the chart topics. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “top good point,” “negative source,” “same phase” and “tops tops.” Spelling errors, including “opportuinites,” “Furthernmore” and “persapective,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for concise, standard chart-report language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe categories as “the most popular advantage” or “a major drawback,” and use verbs such as “rose,” “fell” and “remained stable” to report changes precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, including “From an overall perspective we can see…” and clauses linked with “while.” However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some statements difficult to interpret. Examples include “the advantages of london city is,” where subject–verb agreement is incorrect, and “it increase to between 35-40%,” which has an incorrect verb form and unclear reference. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “in first year” and the sentence fragment beginning “while noise.” Use shorter, controlled sentences first, check agreement and past-tense forms, and punctuate each complete idea clearly.
