Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover the three chart components and report several relevant patterns, including the high Year 1 figures for cost of living and crime, the rise and later fall in litter, and the steady decline in noise. However, the overview is too broad: the claim that Year 1 has the highest percentages for both best and worst things is not consistently supported, and the report does not clearly identify the main overall contrasts. Some figures are inaccurate or vague: shops fell to about 41.5% in Year 2, not by 40%, and transport among the worst things was about 35% in Year 1 before falling to 27%, rather than remaining equal in Years 2 and 3 as implied. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent broad arrangement: it introduces the survey, discusses positive features, then negative features and problems, and ends with a summary. This makes the information generally easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, the repeated sequence of “In year 1” and “In year 2” gives the report a list-like, mechanical feel, while links such as “afterthat” do not always clarify the relationship between figures. The final “In a nutshell” summary repeats a general claim rather than drawing together the strongest trends. Grouping related categories by pattern—for example, stable versus changing results—and using clearer comparison links would create more progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic vocabulary to identify the chart categories, including “job opportunities,” “traffic congestion,” and “air quality,” and you attempt trend language such as “declined,” “increased,” and “significantly.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated or imprecise expressions. “Ratio” is repeatedly used where “percentage” or “proportion” is appropriate, and “mixer of people” is not a natural way to describe the category. Phrases such as “worst things” and “huge number” are also informal or vague for an academic report. More precise collocations for describing data and changes would make the account clearer and more suitable for IELTS Academic Task 1.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with time comparisons, but the range is limited and errors recur in sentence structure, agreement, and verb forms. For example, “The bar chart and line graph depicts” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “traffic congestion have 55% ratio” also uses incorrect agreement. The sentence “Cost of housing have approximately 35% ratio … which it rise” contains several grammatical problems that make the relationship difficult to follow. Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “Percentage of Museum & art galleries.” Use shorter, controlled sentences first, then add accurate comparative clauses; check agreement and past-tense forms when describing the three-year survey.
