Student answer (Band 4.0)
There is a bar charts and line graph which consists of many things of survey conducted in a three year of interval to detailing what people who live in london think of the city.
In the bar charts we saw the three year survey conducted in london which i will describe in next paragraph and i am a university lecturer in london.
Initially, there are some percentages are available on the left side of the graph which is enough to 50 percentage which shows the percentages of the best things about living in london in the three years.
lastly, The best things was the range of shops in year 1 and also in both years which was approximately 45 percentage and if we saw the line graph there was very huge difference in range of shops and transport which was something above 20 percentage.if we saw the job opportunities and mixture of people they are likely same.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response makes a limited attempt to describe the charts, but it does not provide a clear overview of the main findings or cover the information shown. It focuses almost entirely on the positive features, omitting the worst things about London and the line graph on whether issues are major problems. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the range of shops is about 45% in Year 1, but it is not approximately 45% in both later years, and the comparison with transport is not explained precisely. The statement that job opportunities and the mixture of people are “likely same” is also too vague. The response is 147 words, below the required 150. Include a concise overview and select accurate comparisons from all three charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into paragraphs, and sequencing words such as “Initially” and “lastly” indicate an intended order. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph repeats the task introduction and includes an irrelevant claim, “i am a university lecturer in london.” The report then moves from chart scales to selected data without a clear structure, and it does not separate the different chart topics. Some linking phrases, including “if we saw,” are repeated and do not clearly show the relationship between the comparisons. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and focused paragraphs comparing the positive features, negative features, and problem ratings.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentages,” “survey,” “range of shops,” and “job opportunities,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “many things of survey,” “three year of interval,” and “very huge difference.” Repetition of “if we saw” also limits flexibility, while “likely same” does not express the comparison clearly. Use more precise language for reporting data and trends, such as “the proportion,” “remained broadly stable,” or “was considerably higher than.” Check spelling and capitalisation of “London” and “I” as well as the accuracy of word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “There is a bar charts and line graph which consists…” and the sentence beginning “lastly, The best things was…”. However, control is inconsistent: subject–verb agreement is faulty in “There is a bar charts” and “The best things was,” and articles and plurals are often inaccurate. The long final sentence joins several ideas with repeated “and” and “if,” making the relationships unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “london” and “lastly, The.” These errors do not make every point impossible to understand, but they limit clarity. Practise accurate short comparison sentences first, then combine them using controlled clauses.
