Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the three broad topics—positive features, drawbacks, and major problems—and mention several relevant categories, such as shops, jobs, nightlife, housing, litter, air quality and noise. However, the report gives very few accurate comparisons or figures, and some trends are unclear or incorrect. For example, you say the cost of living decreased, but it fell from about 57% in Year 1 to 48.5% in Year 2 before rising slightly to 50% in Year 3; crime also dropped sharply and then edged up. There is no clear overview of the main patterns, and the opening misidentifies the visuals as a pie chart. The response is also two words below the required minimum. Include a concise overview and support it with key comparisons from all charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows a basic sequence, moving from positive features to drawbacks and then to major problems, so the reader can recognise the intended sections. However, the ideas within each section are compressed into long, loosely connected sentences, and the progression between individual points is not always clear. Linking phrases such as “further more” and “moreover” are attempted, but they do not consistently show precise relationships between the data. There is also no distinct overview paragraph to guide the reader through the main findings. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview, and focused detail paragraphs, grouping related trends and using clear transitions between them.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “night life,” “museum and art galleries,” “cost of housing,” and “air quality.” However, the range is limited, and several inaccurate or informal expressions make the data difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “a minimize slightly,” “it tweak a little,” and “remain subtle” do not clearly describe changes, while “pie” incorrectly names the charts. Spelling and word-form errors, including “Londo,” “liter,” and “there year,” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of reporting expressions for increases, decreases, and stability, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine ideas using clauses and linking expressions, but sentence structures are mostly simple or run together, and frequent errors affect clarity. The opening, “In the given pie chart illustrated the results,” lacks a clear grammatical structure; “The graph present” has subject–verb disagreement; and “cost living was extreme” is missing an article and a preposition. Tense and sentence construction are also inconsistent in phrases such as “the crime rate … was were high” and “maximum people tell.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, practise accurate past-tense reporting, and check articles and agreement. Shorter, correctly punctuated sentences would make the comparisons easier to follow.
