Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You cover the three chart topics and include several relevant comparisons, such as the rise in litter concerns before the fall in Year 3 and the decline in air-quality and noise concerns. However, the report does not give a clear overall summary of the main patterns, and some figures or labels are inaccurate. For example, the best-things figures for shops are reported as 45%, 40% and 41%, rather than approximately 45%, 42% and 43%; the mixture-of-people figures are also misreported. In the worst-things section, “cost of living” is repeated where the chart shows cost of housing. These errors and the limited overview mean the task is only partly addressed. Add a concise overview and check each category and comparison against the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a generally understandable order: it introduces the survey, discusses the best things, then the worst things, and finally the major problems. Paragraphing helps distinguish these sections, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal a change of focus. However, progression within some sections is weakened by abrupt or incomplete statements, for example “35% In second year and third year,” and by unclear links between figures and categories. The opening also repeats “charts” and does not clearly preview the report’s main findings. Use complete comparison sentences and clearer references, such as “the figure remained at…” or “this was followed by…”, to make the relationships between data easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “downward trend,” “voted,” and “major problems,” and the reader can usually identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to interpret, including “wrosts,” “misture,” “yeat,” and “falled.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “Traffic contained 57% of votes” is not a natural way to describe survey results, and “the best thing about is range of shops” is unclear. Use accurate category names and standard reporting collocations, such as “respondents identified” and “accounted for.” Proofreading spelling and choosing more precise verbs would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The report attempts both simple statements and longer comparisons, but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “The charts below illustrates” and “The charts shows”; articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “the best thing about is range of shops.” Several comparisons lack a complete clause, as in “35% In second year and third year,” while punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent throughout. These issues sometimes make it difficult to see which year or category a figure refers to. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense reporting, for example, “The proportion fell from… to…”.
