What are the best things about living in London?

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The bar chart compare the results of three years survey in london life. There are positive and negative opinion on many things from the resident of London.

The first chart illustrate the comparison between the best things according to the people opinions. Like range of shop in 3 years have maximum popularity but this not stable for complete 3 year but same time it was the best thing that was almost 44-46%. Jobs had mix opinion like 35-37%. while the least best things were night life and transport with slight differences. Night life perspective increase in recent years 22%-25%. As transport have some ups and down but it was the last best thing in london life like 25% approximately.

Next bar chart represents the worst thing according to the resident of London in 3 years survey data. The highest among them was cost of living that high in 1st year of survey but with time it decreased but not much like from 57%-48%. Traffic congestion and crime are almost near to living cost. In first two years traffic congestion was high but in 3rd year it decreased 55%-49%. While the crime rate was at its highest peak in first year of survey its upto 55%. Later it was decresed to 37% in 3rd year. Cost of housing remained almost same for three years.

Accordinng to resident of London for them cost of living is worst things but at the same time it has many other problem most important of them is litter. Litter problem was most common for about 70% people and to some extend it decreased in the 3rd year. While the air quality was the 2nd most common problem like for abourt 65% people and there was slight decreased in it. Last but not the least the 3rd issue faced by 60% of the people was the noise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You cover all three visuals and identify relevant themes, including shops as a leading positive, cost of living and congestion as major drawbacks, and litter as the most common reported problem. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: transport is not the least-cited positive in every year (an unlabeled category appears in the data), and it reaches about 20–22%, not approximately 25%. Crime falls to about 40% in Year 3, rather than 37%, and its Year 1 figure is about 56%. The report also lacks a concise overview that summarises the main patterns across all charts. Select the clearest comparisons and report them accurately, including the broad decline in reported problems such as litter, air quality and noise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction followed by separate paragraphs on the positive features, negative features and reported problems. This helps the reader follow the chart groups. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the final paragraph repeats the idea that cost of living is the worst feature before moving to the third chart. Linking phrases such as “while” and “at the same time” are used, but some connections are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between figures. Improve the organisation by adding a brief overview after the introduction, then group the most important comparisons in a logical order. Use clear references to each chart and avoid repeating conclusions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “comparison,” “decreased,” “remained almost same,” and “most common,” so the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “maximum popularity,” “least best things,” “crime rate” when describing the survey response, and “last best thing.” Spelling errors, including “Accordinng,” “abourt” and “decresed,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, neutral reporting language: for example, say that a category “was the most popular choice” or that the proportion “declined.” Check spelling and use “respondents” or “residents” consistently when referring to survey participants.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and comparisons, but grammatical control is inconsistent, which sometimes makes relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “The bar chart compare” has subject–verb disagreement, while “range of shop in 3 years have maximum popularity” contains problems with number, articles and sentence structure. Several sentences are fragments or awkwardly joined, such as “Like range of shop…” and “While the air quality was the 2nd most common problem…” Verb forms and articles are also frequently inaccurate. Build more reliable simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses using “while” or “whereas.” Check agreement, singular and plural forms, and sentence boundaries during revision.
