Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response makes a limited attempt to describe the survey, mentioning positive features such as shops, job opportunities, galleries and transport, and negative issues including congestion and crime. However, it does not report the charts’ three-year comparisons or give accurate supporting figures. Some statements are unsupported or misread: for example, “crime was also in its peak point” overlooks its marked fall after Year 1, while the claim that congestion caused noise and disease is not shown by the data. The response also omits the chart about litter, air quality and noise as problems. It is 30 words below the required minimum. To improve, provide a clear overview of the main patterns and compare selected categories across the years using approximate percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic division between positive and negative points, with the second paragraph beginning “Worst thing in london,” so the reader can identify two broad sections. However, the report has no clear introduction or overview, and ideas within each paragraph are difficult to follow. The first paragraph moves abruptly from shops to jobs, people, galleries and transport, while links such as “as well as” and “but” do not always show the intended relationship. The second paragraph similarly shifts from congestion to noise, disease, crime and housing without organising these as chart comparisons. Use a short introduction, a summary of the main trends, and separate paragraphs for the positive and negative findings; connect comparisons with clear phrases such as “by contrast” and “over the three years.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response includes some relevant topic vocabulary, including “range of people,” “art galleries,” “transport,” “traffic congestion” and “crime.” However, word choice and spelling are often inaccurate or unclear, which makes several ideas hard to interpret: “measurements” does not convey a survey finding, “electrical system” appears unrelated to the chart, and “living in narro houses” is not a precise description of the housing-cost category. There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “londan,” “mucg,” “diseeses” and “difficulites.” Aim to use the chart’s exact category labels and standard collocations, for example “the cost of housing” and “the proportion of respondents.” Proofread spelling and avoid adding explanations that the visual does not support.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple statements and some longer constructions, such as “because it cause a loy of noise that cause much diseses,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in “the family live” and “it cause,” while missing or incorrect articles and sentence construction appear in “opportunity ina large scale” and “Worst thing in london was that traffic congestion.” Several sentences are fragments or are joined with punctuation that does not clarify the relationship, as in “Management of transport not obey the rule strictally.. but it was good.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, maintain consistent past or present tense, and check articles and punctuation. Short, accurate comparisons would be more effective than long, error-prone sentences.
