Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main positive feature—shops—and mention several other benefits, drawbacks, and the three problems shown in the line graph. However, some key comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the line graph figures are assigned in reverse order: litter is about 65–75%, air quality 60–66%, and noise 53–58%, rather than around 60%, 65%, and 70% respectively. The housing figure is also not around 45%; it stays near 35–37%. The overview is not sufficiently clear about the most notable patterns across all three charts, and some details, such as the changing crime figures, are only briefly covered. Select the strongest trends and report them accurately to make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an opening, a paragraph on the positive features, and a final paragraph covering drawbacks and problems. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. Linking expressions such as “However,” “After that,” and “Moreover” help connect points, although some are used mechanically or do not express the relationship precisely. The final paragraph combines two different charts, making its information harder to follow, and the line-graph figures appear without a clear comparison across years. Use separate paragraphs for the negative bar chart and line graph, and group details by trend or category. Clearer references and more purposeful transitions would strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “traffic congestion,” “cost of living,” and “air quality,” so the subject is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to vary wording with terms such as “record growth” and “dropped drastically.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “prespective,” “divercity,” “complaint about,” and “bad about transport facilities.” Spelling errors such as “contant,” “thre,” and “aslo” are noticeable and sometimes slow the reader. Aim for precise chart-report language—for example, say that a percentage “remained stable,” “declined,” or “was reported as a problem”—and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including contrast with “However” and clauses beginning with “While.” Nevertheless, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to interpret. Examples include “the prespective of the residents in different three years,” “percentage about cost of living and crime recorded below 50%,” and “traffic congestion stay same.” These show problems with articles, word order, subject–verb agreement, and tense. Sentence boundaries and capitalization are also inconsistent, as in “Overall, The” and “people were aslo.” Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The proportion reporting traffic congestion remained stable in Year 2, then fell in Year 3.”
