Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main subject of all three visuals and give an overview, noting that shops are a leading positive feature and litter is the most serious problem. However, some key comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, crime is not the highest-rated worst feature in Year 1: cost of living is slightly higher, and traffic congestion is also close. Transport is not the least popular item in both bar charts, since night life is lower among the positive features in some years. The line-graph description also says air quality “dropped normally,” which does not clearly report its gradual decline. Select a few reliable comparisons and state the main changes precisely to make the report more complete and informative.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs, with signposts such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Secondly.” This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several comparisons are placed together without clear links—for instance, the discussion moves from shops and night life to the mixture of people and then traffic congestion. Some linking words are also used awkwardly, such as “While” at the start of sentences where the contrast is not fully explained. Group the positive and negative bar-chart findings more systematically, then describe the line graph, using clear comparisons and references so each point follows naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “range of shops,” “traffic congestion,” “major problem,” and “decreased gradually.” These choices show an attempt to describe categories and trends. However, the range is limited and frequent spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, including “porvide,” “wrost,” “cateorise,” and “deropped.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “shopes range is better” does not clearly mean that shops were selected as a positive feature, and “air pollution” changes the chart’s label, which is air quality. Learn accurate chart vocabulary and collocations, and check spelling carefully; this will make your comparisons clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, such as “While, the line graph illustrated…” and “However, air pollution started at 65%…”. Nevertheless, the range of sentence structures is limited, and frequent errors in sentence formation and agreement sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “people who is best and wrost thing live in London,” “transport were stood least,” and “Litter problem were highest.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and punctuation, including unnecessary capital letters after commas and full stops. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add comparisons using “whereas” or “while” without creating fragments.
