Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The report identifies some relevant features, including the range of shops as a leading positive and the cost of living as a major negative, and it gives a few approximate figures. However, it covers the charts only minimally: most categories are omitted, and there is no clear overview comparing the main patterns across the three years. The final statement calls air quality the major problem, but the line graph shows litter had the highest “Yes” responses in every year (about 65–75%), while air quality declined from roughly 66% to 60%. Some figures are also inaccurate, such as transport in the positive chart and the negative-chart transport figures. Select the key highs, lows and changes, and report them accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic sequence through the positive features, negative features and final chart, with signposts such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore” and “In the last.” This gives the reader some sense of how the report is organised. However, the progression is limited because the response moves from isolated figures to another chart without an overview or clear grouping of the most important comparisons. Several transitions are awkward or repetitive, including “From begam with” and “Now, talk about,” and the final paragraph is too brief to connect the line graph to the earlier information. Use a clear introduction and overview, then organise details into paragraphs by chart and use precise linking phrases to show comparisons and trends.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses a small set of task-related terms, including “range of shops,” “job opportunities,” “cost of living” and “air quality,” so the main subject is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “carry ratio,” “major thing” and “stands at” used repeatedly. Spelling errors, including “begam,” “peopel” and “probol(em),” also make the report less clear and weaken control of written vocabulary. Aim for accurate chart-report language and vary the verbs used to describe data, for example, “accounted for,” “was reported at” and “declined.” Check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences, particularly when adding figures with “which,” and uses basic present-tense reporting forms. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make several sentences awkward or difficult to follow. For example, “The bar chart and line graph at down illustrate the results of survey” has an incomplete construction and missing article, while “the transport in year 1 with ratio 39” is not a complete sentence. Articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the run-together figures “45%and” and “50.Furthermore.” Practise complete subject–verb sentences, accurate articles and consistent punctuation, then combine ideas with controlled comparative clauses.
