Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main positive feature—shops—and the principal drawbacks, and you include an overview of the three problem indicators. Several trends are also reported, such as litter peaking in Year 2 and then falling, and air quality and noise declining. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: shops fall from 45% to about 42% and then edge up, not from 45% to 43% before rising; job opportunities fall and then remain steady, rather than showing a clearly described sequence; and transport’s first-year figure is about 22%, not 20%. The account of the worst features also omits the substantial changes in crime and cost of living. More precise comparisons and a clearer overview of the most notable changes would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a broad summary, and paragraphs describing positive and negative features. This gives the reader an overall route through the information, and linking expressions such as “whereas,” “Likewise,” and “In comparison” help signal contrasts. However, the progression within the detail paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because several categories are compressed into one sentence without clear comparisons. For example, “Same trend is followed by job opportunities, fell from 38% then stayed steady” does not clearly connect the trend to the figures. The final paragraph also combines cost, crime, litter, air quality and noise abruptly. Grouping related series more consistently and using clearer references between sentences would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “popularity,” “declined,” “remained,” “major concerns,” and “gradual drop,” which helps describe trends and categories. There are also attempts to vary wording rather than repeat “things.” However, several spelling errors—“yaer,” “Populaity,” “oppurtunities,” “iincrease,” and “concens”—are noticeable, and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “transport likes” and “variety of people.” “People’s view” is also repeated and would be clearer as “the proportion of respondents” when describing survey results. Aim for accurate spelling and standard chart-report collocations, especially when naming changes and percentages.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including contrast clauses and longer sentences with several trends, and the main message is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence construction and verb forms. For example, “Same trend is followed by job opportunities, fell from 38% then stayed steady” joins clauses incorrectly and leaves the subject unclear; “Variety of people remained popular” also needs an article and a more suitable grammatical construction. In “litter … rose steadily … and then showed a gradual drop,” the sequence is understandable, but the sentence would be clearer with a more precise verb pattern. Work on complete clauses, articles, and consistent tense when describing the data. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
