Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover the three chart components and identify several relevant features, including shops as a leading positive, cost and congestion among the main drawbacks, and litter as the most prominent major problem. However, some comparisons and figures are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the mixture of people is not the same as job opportunities in Year 1, and the three worst features do not all stand at approximately 57% across the period. The statement that air quality is “65% in all three years” is also inaccurate: it declines from about 66% to 60%. Your overview names some key points, but it does not clearly summarise the main changes across the years; develop this overview and report more precise, supported comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the positive and negative features, a paragraph on major problems, and a concluding overview. This makes the information generally easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “In contrast” and “Furthermore” to signal shifts between chart sections. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and connectors can feel mechanical. For instance, “Afterthat” introduces a list without explaining how its figures compare, while “Similarly” does not accurately describe the relationship between job opportunities and the mixture of people. The final overview repeats earlier points rather than bringing the main trends together. Use clearer comparisons and references to guide the reader through each set of data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “survey,” “approximately,” “decreased,” and “major problem,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors weaken precision, such as “wrost,” “deecreased,” “problms,” and “opportuinty.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “the highest proportion of best thing” and “the proportion is continuously fell” do not express the intended comparisons clearly. Aim for accurate collocations used in data reports, such as “the most popular positive feature” and “the figure fell.” Proofread spelling carefully and vary the language used to describe increases, decreases, and similar or contrasting values.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including comparisons and clauses introduced by “which” and “However.” Nevertheless, errors occur frequently, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “The bar chart and line graph illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the proportion is continuously fell” combines incompatible verb forms. The opening phrase “to discover what are the best and wrost things” also uses an incorrect word order for an embedded question. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries need attention as well. Practise building clear comparison sentences with accurate tense and agreement—for example, “The proportion choosing shops was highest in Year 1, then fell slightly”—and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed verb.
