Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the broad topic and make a basic attempt to compare positive and negative aspects, but the report covers the charts only minimally. The claim that shops are the most popular positive feature is supported, yet the stated 65% for the cost of living in Year 1 is inaccurate; the chart shows about 57%. The jobs figures are also misreported: they are approximately 38%, 35% and 35%, not 40%, 35% and 37%. Crime does fall after Year 1 and rises slightly in Year 3, but the report gives no clear figures. The final sentence names the three problems but does not describe their trends. The response is also 18 words below the required minimum. Include a clear overview and accurate comparisons across all three charts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening and overview are followed by comments on positive features, crime and major problems. Linking expressions such as “Overall” and “Furthermore” help signal movement between points. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the charts and comparisons are not clearly separated, and some references are unclear—for example, “the best things in the university of London” does not clearly identify the survey results. The final sentence introduces the third chart without connecting it to the earlier discussion. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and the main chart comparisons, and group related figures together. Clearer referencing and more purposeful links would make the report easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general subject, with relevant terms such as “cost of living,” “crime rate,” “air quality” and “litter.” You also attempt evaluative and trend language, including “high position” and “gradually decrease.” However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “numbers of shops,” “to much high,” and “university conducted the survey.” These expressions make some information harder to interpret. Spelling errors, including “fisrt,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of chart-reporting phrases, such as “the proportion citing,” “ranked highest,” and “declined,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a comparison introduced by “but” and a trend description using “gradually.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the report difficult to understand. For example, “The illustration gives information about the results of three years of university conducted the survey” has an unclear sentence structure, while “the cost of living to much high” lacks a correct verb construction. There are also problems with articles, agreement and punctuation, as in “In first year ratio of jobs was40 percent” and “crimes rate are.” Use complete, straightforward sentence patterns first, with accurate articles and verb forms, and leave spaces after punctuation. Then practise combining comparisons accurately.
