Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant categories and include some figures, such as shops at about 45% in Year 1 and the upward movement in museums and galleries. However, the report only partially covers the visual: it misidentifies the charts, calling the worst-things bar charts a line graph, and the final paragraph stops after “while cost of living,” leaving the second chart’s trends incomplete. The overview is also unclear and partly inaccurate: shops lead the positive categories, but night life and transport do not both show a consistent opposite trend, and the separate major-problems graph is not described. Some comparisons are too vague to establish the main changes. Select the key highs and changes across all three visuals, and give a complete, accurate overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic report structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs intended to describe the positive and negative aspects. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “In contrast” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression is limited: the overview combines unclear claims, and the final paragraph ends abruptly without completing its comparison. The distinction between the bar charts and line graph is also confusing, making it difficult to follow which data are being discussed. Within the positive-features paragraph, several categories are grouped together without enough explanation of how their trends relate. Organise the report into a clear overview followed by one paragraph for each visual, and use precise references to categories and years to connect comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “range of shops,” “job opportunities,” “traffic congestion” and “upward trend,” so the reader can recognise the subject of most comparisons. There is also some attempt to vary wording with “declining” and “witness decline.” However, inaccurate word choice and spelling frequently weaken clarity: “illustratres,” “oppotunities,” “protio,” and “atmostphere” are difficult to interpret, while “help highest” and “show a downward” are not natural collocations or complete expressions. “Others” is too vague when describing a chart category. Aim for accurate, conventional reporting language such as “accounted for the highest proportion,” “fell slightly,” and “the remaining categories,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some complex structures, including “while night life, transport and others are observed…” and “before declining…,” but control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement is faulty in “The bar charts compares,” and several sentences have incomplete or malformed structures, such as “Job opportunities and mixture of people show a downward” and “Transport and others show decrease before rising.” The final sentence is unfinished, so its grammatical relationship cannot be understood. Articles and number are also inconsistent, as in “museum and art galleries” and “some major problem.” These errors sometimes make the intended comparison difficult to follow. Build reliable simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check agreement, articles, plural forms and sentence completion during revision.
