Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the survey’s broad focus and include a general overview of positive features, negative features and reported problems. However, the report only partially describes the data: it gives no figures and makes several unsupported or inaccurate claims. For example, the best features did not all grow: the range of shops fell from about 45% to 42.5%, and the mixture of people also declined slightly. You say crime and transport decreased, but crime rose after Year 1, while transport was stable between Years 2 and 3. The overview also omits the key contrast that litter was the leading major problem throughout. Select the clearest highs, lows and changes, and support them with approximate percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has some organisation: it moves from an introduction to an overview and then discusses positive features, negative features and major problems. This gives the reader a basic sense of the chart categories. However, progression is limited because the second paragraph largely repeats the categories rather than summarising the main patterns, and the later paragraphs combine several trends without clear comparisons. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “however” and “followed by” are attempted, but some connections are unclear or mechanically used. For example, “The worst things, however shows a decrease” does not clearly connect to the preceding claim. Group the information into clear comparisons and use references such as “these figures” only when their meaning is unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “job opportunities,” “range of shops,” “traffic congestion” and “air quality,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the report less clear, including “reslts,” “oppurtunities,” “mixuture,” “decrese” and “redusing.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “the opinion of the London city” and “kept a decent growth.” Use standard chart-report language—for example, “residents’ views,” “increased slightly” or “declined”—and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish a category’s level from its change over time.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast introduced by “even though” and a sentence beginning “However.” Nevertheless, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “The worst things … shows,” where the plural subject needs a plural verb, and “The major problems occur … is due to litter,” which has an unclear subject–verb structure. Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “In the all the three years” and “the decreased in the third year.” Punctuation and spacing around commas are inconsistent. Practise building accurate sentences with one clear subject and verb, then add comparisons or subordinate clauses only when the basic structure is secure.
