Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response makes a relevant attempt to introduce the survey and give an overall comment, but it does not provide a report of the charts. The statement that Londoners “could enjoy better job opportunities” in Year 1 is not supported: job opportunities were highest in Year 1, but the response does not compare the other categories or describe the other two visuals. The overview is also unfinished (“and in the year than any other two years and”), so the main patterns are not communicated. The response is 49 words, below the required 150. To improve, complete the overview and select key comparisons across the best and worst aspects and the problems chart, using accurate figures where useful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introductory sentence is followed by a paragraph beginning “Overall”. However, the report stops before developing any sequence of information, and the final sentence is incomplete, ending “and in the year than any other two years and”. This leaves the reader unable to follow the intended comparison. Cohesive links between chart features are absent, and there are no developed paragraphs for the overview or supporting details. Use a clear structure—introduction, overview, then grouped comparisons—and ensure each sentence is complete. Simple links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile” can help connect the different charts without forcing transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses a small amount of task-relevant vocabulary, including “survey”, “city” and “job opportunities”, so the topic is identifiable. However, the range is very limited and there are noticeable spelling and word-choice problems: “opportunies” is misspelled, while “survey result of discovering perspective” is an unnatural way to describe the purpose of the survey. “People of london city” is also awkward and imprecise. These choices make the report less clear and less suitable for an academic summary. Build a bank of accurate chart language, such as “respondents”, “proportion”, “ranked highest” and “accounted for”, and check spelling and collocations before finishing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response shows an attempt to use a complex sentence, particularly in “Overall, most of the people think in the year 1…”, but control is uneven and the sentence is not completed. The opening phrase “a survey result of discovering perspective” does not form a clear grammatical relationship, and the second sentence has an unclear structure around “in the year than any other two years”. The response therefore offers little evidence of controlled sentence variety. Practise writing complete, direct sentences with a clear subject and verb, for example, “In Year 1, job opportunities were selected by 38% of respondents.” Check that comparisons include the item being compared and that each sentence has a finished main clause.
